Placenta Previa / Accreta - ANYONE?

Evening all.

I’m currently 32+2 and waiting an MRI as advised even though two ultrasounds have been done thoroughly (also one internal) and they can not see any evidence or features of accreta.

But because placenta is left lateral with anterior component = over previous c-section scar. They do like to do an MRI.

But then I see it can still be missed on an MRI. The consultant still discussed natural birth if placenta moved (& she expects it could) but also that they may still treat me as suspected accreta (depending on MRI results). I’m terribly confused and scared.

I feel that after yesterdays appointment... The more the time goes on the more questions I have (which I will be asking the consultant the first chance I can). But just probably need some experiences / reassurance so I can hopefully sleep.

Anyone similar experience or advise for keeping sane?

Me!! Scan last week at 32 weeks advised I had total placenta previa with no chance of it moving. Its anterior and due to previous section they are worried about accreta. Obviously came home and googled and scared myself. I have an appointment and scan tomorrow with the fetal medicine specialist, they are surprised I have had no bleeding yet but have to call ambulance if I do with a chance of them doing section there and then. Been told if accreta will have section between 35 and 36 weeks, if just previa will be 37/38 weeks. All very worrying, trying to be positive until I know more tomorrow xx

Feel free to ask me any questions as I did ask about a million!! Xx

@mummyspider27

Bless you. I feel the same but do feel reassured I’m not alone. Thanks for the reply. Let me know what your outcome is tomorrow. Both ultrasounds have shown no accreta but still waiting an mri which am not over happy about because I am petrified of mri’s. I’ve had one really small old bleed. Like brown discharge more than anything but my placenta isn’t CPP. She does think it could move up move but then I think surely if she thinks that shes sure of no accreta. Otherwise hows your pregnancy been?

Its my second pregnancy (Well 4 including miscarriages), my daughters pregnancy was a breeze 5 years ago, this one has every issue!! Its an IVF pregnancy, had previous emergency section and small baby so being monitored for all of that too. Now this placenta! Having all the regular, heartburn, constipation, groin and Pelvis pain, still get moments of feeling sick! Had 3 lots of reduced movement, it’s all happening.
I was hoping tomorrow would be conclusive but sounds like I might be sent for an MRI as that was mentioned too. Will see what tomorrow brings. Just don’t want to have a general anaesthetic for my section and worrying about being aware of the excess bleeding during the operation, the chance of hysterectomy doesn’t worry me as much as I won’t be having anymore (can’t afford it after 4 rounds of ivf!!). Want the baby to cook long enough too.
Anyway, moaning over.... how are you and your pregnancy? Xx

SjBrown12 · 27/05/2020 19:05

Honestly moan away because I am feeling just about the same.

First baby was born 29+6 weeks weighing 2lb 10oz. Due to pre-eclampsia. However up to 28 weeks was all going good. Then the reduced movement started, BP shot up and that was that...

This pregnancy, severe morning sickness, as you say the usual aches and pains specially now. But can cope with those. Baby is measuring big or was almost 2 weeks ago which is better than small I suppose?
Also am further than I was with the first. Just now all the unknown re placenta. And the fear of surgery... not knowing potentially until they open me up what the actual situation is. Also don’t want to be put to sleep and miss the birth.

Who said pregnancy was easy???

@Mummyspider27

I’d say an mri is on the cards. How do you feel about them?
