Hi Ladies,
Wondering if anyone has given birth at the QEU in Glasgow and used the birthing pool? Was this a positive experience? Pretty sure I want a water birth but not sure the best place to go!

I asked for it with ds and basically got ignored....

Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.

CarolineCS · 27/05/2020 20:20

I’m really sorry to hear that @justhereforthetips. Is that since lockdown? Spoke to my midwife for the first time today and she said they weren’t using them at the moment but hopefully it’ll be ok by my due date which is January. How was your overall experience of the hospital?

It was 2016, I'm pg with my second now planning to go to the royal this time.
Maybe I was unlucky but I wasn't impressed with qeuh.

If you can head for the midwife led unit at the rah!

CarolineCS · 27/05/2020 21:10

@Sweetpotatoaddict can I do that if I live in Rutherglen?

No idea, worth a shot. The midwife led unit was lovely 4 years ago.

Following with interest! I want the same and QEUH is my hospital too, not sure based on the experience of friend’s that they’ll be that accommodating... my midwife said at my booking appt that normally they could book me into the community midwife unit at the RAH but that right now it’s been aligned with the labour ward because of Covid so nobody is getting booked in. Hoping that will have changed by my due date at the end of November. When are you due OP?

cfgordo · 27/05/2020 21:14

Sorry, just saw January!

justhereforthetips · 27/05/2020 21:20

@cfgordo I'm due at end of November too!

CarolineCS · 27/05/2020 21:39

@cfgordo I'm going to ask my midwife about Royal Alexandra. A couple of my friends have been there and also recommended..

The RAH gets a better name than the QEUH

MuddyMoon · 21/02/2021 23:07

Had son at QEUH in 2016, horrible place, some staff really dismissive
