Pretending to drink alcohol

Hi ladies. I am only just over 5 weeks. I am due to have a catch up, within social distancing rules, with my best friend. We were planning on having a wine or two.
Because it's such early days I'm not telling anyone at all yet. If I decide that I'm not drinking though she will guess something is going on as I'd never usually turn one down ha.
Does anyone know of a convincing looking non alcoholic wine that actually tastes nice and is not crap and full of sweeteners? I have seen a red in M&S anyone tried that or have any other suggestions?

This is hands down the best one I tried (and I tried a lot!). Even drinkers were tucking into this one New Year's Eve!

Fill an empty wine bottle with the non alcoholic one and nobody will know the difference, also congratulations x

Can you just decant something the right colour into a wine bottle? I reckon elderflower cordial or watered-down apple juice would make convincing "white wine".
Sure I read once that "whisky" on TV is normally apple juice!

Just say your on antibiotics and cant drink? X

No one will believe that. If you’re going to try that, you may as well just wear a big sign on your forehead saying “I’m pregnant”.

Theres loads in the supermarkets, i prefer the ciders to the wine they're much nicer and fruity so nice in this weather. If shes your best friend why not just tell her? I told my best friend before my hubby lol

Ooh I know this was a while ago but wanted to post this - we had my brother and his girlfriend round for a bbq (in the garden, distancing etc).

I suggested drinking gin and tonic - they were happy. Being an excellent hostess of course, I insisted on making all our drinks. Mine of course was just tonic with ice (which was surprisingly refreshing), and they had a real G&T. Don't think either of them suspected anything!

Between the two of them they nearly drank a whole bottle of gin though!! Although they thought it was between three of us. No wonder they had sore heads in the morning! (I pretended I did too!)

@Poppyismyfavourite ha their poor heads!! I've been doing this too. I have my screening results this week then I can finally tell people and stop pretending!

Wouldnt it be easier to just say youre on a health kick, or not feeling 100%? Otherwise youre going to have to explain later why you were "drinking" while pregnant. It seems to make an unecessary charade of the whole thing.

Fill a small, empty gin bottle up with water and bring along some tonic - they'll never know! Xx
