Help for terrible hip pain

Hi friends,

I’m in desperate need of some tried and tested hip pain solutions. My left hip is causing so much trouble, and going up and down stairs and having a shower this morning was a momentous task 😰

Please help! I’m 20 weeks.

Hope you’re all doing well - anyone else finding 23 degrees a lot hotter than they used to?!

X

Hi @mammagmac
Congrats!! I'm almost 37 weeks now so (hopefully) nearing towards the end!!

Have you got yourself an exercise ball yet?
I've had one for weeks but haven't got round to using it but yesterday afternoon decided I should pump it up! Only used it for one afternoon so far but it definitely helps with my back and hip pain for sure!! Xx

@Sophie1326
Oh I’ve just ordered one!! So relieved to hear it helps so quickly!

Congrats x

You may have tried this already, but I found sleeping with a pillow between my knees a huge help. It aligns your top leg better and so can ease hip pain.

@mammagmac I actually found it more comfy than being slumped on the sofa yesterday really helps with posture too!
And I agree with what the other poster says too about the pillow! I've got a maternity pillow that I wrap around me and then a spare pillow that goes in between my legs .. not sure I could sleep without!! X

Sleeping with a pillow between knees helps as does the exercise ball.
I'm 34 weeks and suffering really badly with hip pain.I bought a pregnancy support belt from Amazon which is great when you're a bit further on.Takes the weight of your bump of your hips/pelvis.

I have this (22 weeks.) went to see an osteopath yesterday - they have just been allowed to reopen. He thought that my lower back and glutes were extra tight from compensating for the ligaments in my pelvis relaxing. He recommended stretching out of glutes and hip flexors, and it does feel a lot better today. I got out of bed without help!

I can relate to this - also 20 weeks, mine hurts sometimes at the front of the top and sometimes the back but always left side.

I agree about the pregnancy pillow between the legs and also have found doing hip rotations/yoga can help a bit. I’m going to get a ball too as can imagine this would help. Seems so silly doesn’t it when baby is still small but I guess the whole body is changing more each week.
