Positive and negative tests...advice needed...

Hi,
So, we had a medical miscarriage in April at 16 weeks (Baby had passed at 13 weeks).... 2 weeks after my partner and I slept together a few times and 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant again! we were over the moon.... however a week later I bled for 3 days and had minor cramps, no clots. Did a test and it was a very faint positive. Since then have had a mix of positive and negative tests? Can’t ring early pregnancy unit for a few days as they won’t see me yet. I’m likely about 6 weeks. Have I miscarries and the tests are just showing hormones? I’m devastated and can’t concentrate on anything else! My boobs are still sore and I’m nauseous still so it’s all just so confusing and the waiting is driving me insane . Anyone else had anything similar xxx

Hi OP, so sorry to hear about your miscarriage and that you're going through an uncertain time, it's not nice. Unfortunately it could be either or..By 6 weeks pregnant I'd expect you to have a clear positive by now, but sometimes it can take longer to get a strong positive, but if you've had giant positives then negatives this could be an indication of a miscarriage. Do you have any pics of your positive tests? I'd say do another test in the next few days, if it's negative then I'd take that as an indication of early miscarriage. Best of luck to you! X

Thanks for replying.... just not great at waiting around! Positive this morning on a clear blue digital then not pregnant with the weeks indicator clear blue later in the day! Sp confusing xx

Your test later in the day will have been less accurate because your wee was probably more diluted.

Hello.

There's a chance it could be fine, but obviously you need to ring your EPAU and have an early scan and or hcg testing. I would definitely ring in the morning and try to get an appointment. When I've had weak/ + and - tests in the past it was a miscarriage once and the other time, when it was more confusing it ended up being an ectopic pregnancy. Definitely get checked out.

Did you take a pregnancy test after your medical miscarriage? I had a MMC and had a D&C When i was 11 weeks, it took about 5 weeks after that to get negative pregnancy tests, could it be left over hormones from that? Sorry to be a downer just wanted to check xx

Yeah I know what you mean but I did like 3 after the first one and all were negative. So strange as feel really nauseous and sore boobs. Just wish we knew! I’m ringing them Tom, obvs expecting that we have lost this one too but Atleast it’s closure and we can start preparing to try again x thanks everyone
