Awful smell

Hi sorry this is so gross but I just want to be safe... so after giving birth a few weeks ago there has been quite an awful smell down below... I had the episiotomy so my worry is that it's infected but yesterday when I rang someone for some advice ( a nurse ) she said because there's no puss coming from the wound or it's not painful it won't be infected?! But a bad smell is one of the things to look out for so should I ring my doctor

It sounds like you do have an infection. It could just be a yeast infection, or BV (bacterial vaginosis) (they smell vile 🤢) and your stitches could be fine, but I'd call your GP anyway.
Alternatively you can see if you can visit your local GUM clinic if you don't seem to be getting anywhere. They will swab you and tell you straight away.

Hi I've just looked online at what bv is and I don't believe it's that as I don't have any white watery discharge and the smell also isn't fishy, I know this is bad but it almost smells like I'm rotting on the inside :/

Oh dear OP! Just get yourself into your GP or call your local GUM clinic.
You clearly have something that needs sorting x

Yeah definitely thank you I will do! X

Are you still bleeding op? I found the smell of lochia nauseating! I had been pre-warned by a friend!

After around 4/5 weeks it had gone.

It sounds like the smell of lochia. I found it awful and always thought it smelt like I was rotting. I would still get checked out :)
