Painful cramps

Hi all

I'm just looking for some advice really. I'm 5+6 today and yesterday I had an hour of the worst period pain type cramps I've ever had they weren't one sided just all over in my lower abdomen and went after about an hour (I did take some paracetamol). I went to the loo in that time and had some blood when I wiped it wasn't bright red kind of pinkish red and I only had it the once but now I'm feeling really anxious.

This is my first pregnancy I'm not sure if I'm overthinking it and worrying for no reason or whether it's completely normal.

I feel ok today just some lower back ache but I've had that on and off for a while.

Hey @BabyDust13 - try not to worry. I had this too at 6+1 - bad cramps and lower back pain. The next day I had it again and a little bit of faint pink spotting so started to worry. Luckily I called my EPAU and they said they would scan me given my miscarriage history. Had the scan and all went really well... and they didn't just see one but TWO heartbeats!! I'm going for a private scan tomorrow at 8 weeks so I'm just praying they're still okay. Just so you know with my mmc at 12 weeks I didn't have any cramping - just a tiny amount of pink spotting - which can be really common in pregnancy anyway. I think the cramping in the first few weeks is due to everything moving and stretching and your little bean is getting comfy!! Hope this has helped reassure you. xxx

@MilsCookie thank you so much and congratulations twins is so exciting. I hope your 8 week scan goes well. My doctor referred me for a scan I'm just waiting for a phone call to find out when it will be. I'm only 6 weeks tomorrow so not sure how much they will see but I'm hoping it will put my mind at rest x

I had awful cramps, although no bleeding, in early pregnancy. I can't remember exactly how long it lasted but until around 6-8 weeks I think, but it is pretty common. Hopefully the scan will show all is well.

@BabyDust13 thank you! I had cramping every day from a few days before my bfp (took a test at 16dpo) for about 10 days (so probably up to 5+5?) then it's been on and off since then. In fact I've had some stretchy type cramps this evening! I didn't get any cramping at all with mmc so I'm hoping the fact I'm having cramps this time means it's a good sign! Keeping everything crossed for you 😊🤞🏻 xxx
