Numbness on left side

I am 16 weeks pregnant and had two episodes of numbness.
It occurs on the left side of my face, fingers and arm. It's a numb feeling as well as tingling.
Has anyone experienced this before?

Do you have any other symptoms with the numbness? That isn’t normal and needs to be investigated by your GP.

No, just the numbness and tingling. Last time it lasted about 40 minutes. This time the tingling in my face went after about 10 minutes, but my arm is still tingling 50 minutes after it started.

I'm getting a bit of numbness and tingling in my right leg but then I'm 35 weeks so it's probably the baby pressing on a nerve. At 16 weeks I think you should probably speak to your midwife or GP fairly soon as I dont think I've heard of this before that early.

I rang 111 and have to go to A&E :(

Hi OP

How did it go at A&E?

Chocolateandcoffee1234 · 25/05/2020 21:50

Thank you for asking. They checked my blood pressure, heart rate, urine for infection and protein, eyes, ears, heart beat, breathing, and did a nervous system check and all looked fine except slightly high blood pressure and heart rate. He said its likely it is due to my headaches / migraines as I get them quite often and have been having them more frequently since being pregnant. Thankfully I could come straight home after. So happy it doesn't seem like if is anything more serious. Things like this make you really appreciate your health and your family around you ❤️

It definitely does! Glad they gave you the once over and I hope it starts to ease for you Flowers

I get this quite frequently as a symptom of my migraines, which have massively increased during pregnancy so far! I get hemiplegic migraines, they mimic stroke like symptoms and although scary, the numbness and weakness for me generally doesn't last more than a couple of hours. Often replaced by a banging headache! Hope you're feeling better xx
