Faint positive 8dpo on frer but negative at 9dpo

Hi, so I’ve been taking the Cheap internet tests since 7dpo and I was having super squinter lines so yesterday at 8dpo I took a frer at midday (not first morning urine) and it came back within the first minute with a faint line... the line is still there but is now a lot fainter. So I decided to take another frer this morning with fmu and it’s negative? If this has happened to anyone please let me know because I’m going crazy. Has anyone had a false positive on the first response before?

Youre testing really really early so the slightest difference in hcg levels could make a difference between BFP or BFN. You're probably talking about a trace that the tests are trying to pick up at this stage.

I know it's easier said than done but the best thing you could do is put the tests away and test again in at least 3 days time.

Good luck.

Agree with the reply you've already had, but also wanted to add: I know the advice is to test with fmu but some people get better results with second morning, or afternoon urine. So you might get a positive if you do a two or three hour hold and test again later today.

Thank you so much. So I done another cheap one with my afternoon urine and that ones darker again. Still super faint but it’s there. I think I will do another first response tomorrow with afternoon urine and see what that says. Fingers crossed. I know I’m still early so I’m trying not to get my hopes up yet but we’ve been trying for a long time so it’s hard not to. Thanks

Hi @Florjon20 do you have any update? I'm in a similar situation myself after 3 chemical pregnancies in 5 months. I got a positive yesterday at 8 dpo and now nothing today.

@RoseGoldLove hi lovely . Just found this thread and wondered if it worked out for anyone? I've had the faintest first responses

First response tests:
6DPO - super super faint
7DPO - super super faint
7POD EVE - Super faint but slightly darker than the others
8DPO - pretty much negative. ( keep seeing things but don't think they're even there )

I know it's so early so I'm just hoping that's why but... I'm so confused and trying to hold back testing loads in one day! Xx

Hi @mummytoemilia unfortunately that was not my month but the next one was and now I have a beautiful almost 2 year old girl! What worked for me in the end was progesterone, I saw a private consultant who asked the GP to prescribe me progesterone as soon as a I had a positive test. The following month, I went to the GP to get tested to see if I had ovulated and that morning I had a positive so I was able to very quickly get progesterone at like 8dpo. Trying for a baby is so hard and whilst having baby number 2 on my mind, I'm not sure I can go through all that again so I really feel for you!

I know you may feel like you are going crazy right now with all the testing, I definitely did but I would try really hard to have a break from it all and see how things are going in a couple of days (way easier said than done I know).

Wishing you all the best and here if you have any questions!

@RoseGoldLove
Thankyou so much for your reply & im so happy you had a happy ending!

Do you have to have a certain amount of chemical pregnancies to be prescribed that? Sounds like it done the trick for you.
I've never had a problem conceiving before so last month could've just been one of those things ( what I'm praying doesn't happen this month 🤞🏼 )

I really want to hold back on the testing for my own sanity & also my bank account! But I tell myself this & then the next day I'm just so itching to test just in hope the lines darker.

I will update you in a couple of days. Xx

Uhh I'm not sure, I had 3 CPs in the end but I mentioned to the consultant about a Tommy's study about the impact on progesterone for those who had miscarriages previously and she agreed to recommend that the GP prescribes it. That's what helped me!

Good luck! Keep me posted!
