Anyone on here had a Fiat 500 with a baby?

Just looking for some hints, tips, suggestions to anything and everything car/travel related please!

Please note - changing the car is not an option!

Following, as I have one too, and updating my car is gonna have to wait!

I don’t have one but a friend of mine did and said getting the car seat in and out was a nightmare. I remember her saying it was better to have it in the front and passengers in the back. She couldn’t fit her pram in so got a Doona car seat and this worked for her as changing her car wasn’t an option either.

I only learnt to drive when my first baby was a year old and a small car is better than no car at all - even if it’s a bit of a squeeze.

I remember a friend of mine celebrating the end of the pushchair dats by buying a Fiat 500! She’d had a Fiesta up until then.

This sure might be useful. I dont have a 500 but would imagine that a bugaboo bee would fit as they fold quite small.
Ideally, I would find an independent pram store that will be happy to try them on your boot but that might not be possible of you are due soon.

I'd definitely recommend getting a car seat that slides into an ISOfix base that stays in the car at all times & you can just spin it round.
I had a maxi-cosi one that worked with my Oyster 2 pram.
I had a big car with a really really small trunk so not quite the same but the pram had to be small enough to fit in the trunk of my husbands sports car also & the Oyster 2 worked perfectly!

@Nov19 I've been on a few Fiat car forums and that seems to be the easiest way from what I read. It's only for me & baby though (thankfully!), we have another car for when we're out with DH. I just don't have access to the bigger car all the time as DH uses it for work.

Thanks for the suggestions!

@wannabebump we just have the one car... going to be interesting lol

@Birdy1991 where there's a will, there's a way! Front seat and passenger in the back might be the way forward for you too!x

@wannabebump for some reason, I thought that was the norm anyway, my big partner is going to have fun squished in the back haha. x

😂

This has actually got me thinking though, I could use the front seat and then put the back seats down so wouldnt need to worry about what pram fits in the boot 😮

We managed fine with ours for nearly a year - Cybex Aton car seat on an isofix base in the back, Armadillo Flip XT pushchair (not the smallest) fit fine in the boot with a wheel removed.

Hi.. I had a Fiat 500 and an iCandy peach fit in the boot no problem (with one wheel off). I'm sure there are a lot of other prams which would fit. Take your car to the prom shop (when you can) and try and fold them up and fit them in your car. I couldn't get a silver cross one in. They should be really helpful. I had a besafe car seat for my first car seat and yes it was a squeeze and a faff sometimes but I managed absolutely no problem.

I even put my baby's next car seat in. I knew it was time to change car the day he flicked the lever on the back of the passenger seat and pushed my mum forward with his feet!

I never really took long journeys with him in the 500 as luckily my husband had a bigger more 'family' sized car - but I got a good year out of it running round town on my maternity leave. I've got a Juke now. To be honest I feel safer in it but it's not much bigger boot/space wise ! Xx

I had one with DS, much easier to have car seat in the front with airbag off. I was so happy to get a 5 door car when he was 18 months!!! It is manageable to fit a pram in the boot, I used to clip my car seat onto the frame for a good few months!

Dollywilde · 25/05/2020 12:54

My friend has one and swears by her Babyzen Yoyo pram!

Pacmanitee · 25/05/2020 12:56

I loved my fiat 500, but I sold it when DS was 2 months old as it was a nightmare getting him in and out, the passenger seat had to be pushed right forward and the pram had to be more or less dismantled to fit in the boot. I was heartbroken but couldn't deal with it!

Pacmanitee · 25/05/2020 12:57

Oh sorry just read changing car is not an option, sorry!
