Missed pills - protection against pregnancy

Hiya,

Slightly strange scenario that I'm hoping someone might be able to give some answers on. Apologies for the amount of detail but it's the only way I can really explain it.

Last month during week 3 of taking my normal combined pill I got 2 very clear positive pregnancy tests followed by negatives. I was advised to stop taking the pill immediately until I knew if I was pregnant or not for sure. This meant that I missed the last 4 out of the 21 pills.

3 days later I had a heavy bleed (chemical pregnancy maybe) so I am not pregnant due to this and other tests coming back negative.

In total I took 7 pill free days after stopping the last pack early and then resumed a new pack. Should I be using another form of contraception? Or is it ok because I have only had 7 pill free days even though I missed the last 4 days of the last pack.

Thanks 😊

If you don't want to be pregnant, you should use additional contraception for the number of days it would take for you to be protected by the pill as if it was your first time being prescribed. Check the insert because it varies pill to pill.

Thanks @carleyemma91. This was a bit of a late thought so I haven't been using extra contraception 😔. I didn't think that it could potentially be an issue until yesterday (hectic with a 9 month old and I think I still have baby brain 😂). Will need to wait and see what happens now.
