Hi, I'm 31 weeks this week and have a midwife appt on the 3rd and then 32 week scan on the 4th, just wondering if appointments still need to be attended alone in your areas or if anyone had been allowed a partner/husband to attend recently? I will double check by calling in advance but thought I'd ask MN Smile thank yooooou

Hi OP, I had a consultant appointment last wednesday which had to be attended alone and I've got a midwife appointment this week which is the same.

I'm not as far along as you but I have a midwife appointment this week and a scan booked in for the end of June and been advised DH can't attend x

Thought so! Want to do a private scan but I'm a bit short of time now! booo thanks for responding Smile

Yep all alone here including my C section pre op.

WK29 · 24/05/2020 18:20

@Birdy1991 Still all alone here too. Had a phone appointment with the midwife last week giving me a date for a face to face midwife appointment at the start of July and was told to attend alone. Asked if they had been given any idea of when there might be a possibility of things changing and she said “unfortunately it’s looking like at least another few months yet” 😔

clo1992 · 24/05/2020 18:25

Yup everything is alone. 1 birth partner here and both tested for covid at labour.

Birdy1991 · 24/05/2020 18:27

@WK29 - ah really? When I last saw the midwife, she was quite optimistic that things would lift in a matter of weeks, but I wasn't too sure.

@Fudgewhizz sorry to hear that. I hope you are ok.

Tough time to be pregnant at the moment!

@Birdy1991 I’m not sure if she just didn’t want to give me any false hope but she sounded pretty disappointed with the situation herself if I’m honest 😔 it might vary from area to area though...I’ve seen people on here who are still having face to face midwife appointments which certainly isn’t the case in my area. My first meeting with a midwife is in July at 23 weeks. I had my 12 week scan where a nurse came in after and took my blood sample for testing and handed me my maternity notes then left, then I’ll have my 20 week scan.

Birdy1991 · 24/05/2020 18:37

@WK29 - sorry to hear that, sounds like you've not had much contact at all. Is it your first baby? I can only hope by the end it is better for you!

@Birdy1991 Yes it’s my first 😊 Definitely don’t think I’ve had as much contact as I should have had but given what’s going on in the world I guess it’s to be expected 😂 I know there’s plenty of other people in the same situation!

Hopefully this Covid situation will be over soon 😊 and I hope things are going well with your pregnancy! Is this your first too? Have you found out the gender?

Birdy1991 · 24/05/2020 18:55

@Wk29 so how far along are you? Yes as long as baby is healthy that is the main thing Smile

Yeah it's my first. At the beginning I had my appointments and scans as usual, they brought in the restrictions just after my 20 week scan. It's going well thanks, lots of kicks now which reassures me between appointments. I'm having a girl Smile will you find out?

@Birdy1991 That’s lovely ❤️ I’m glad you managed to get all your appointments etc as normal at the start! I’m about 17 weeks so still a while to go! Still finding it all a bit surreal to be honest. I think I’ll feel better once I can feel baby for that bit of reassurance between scans like you said!

Due to lockdown only a very small handful of people even know I’m pregnant because I’d rather tell people face to face 😂 so I still kind of feel like I’ve just made the whole thing up 😂😂

Natalie654321 · 24/05/2020 19:32

I have my 16 week midwife appointment over the phone next week, and have to go to the scan alone in 5 weeks. I am due in November and really hoping the rules start to relax by then 😭
