Omeprazole for Morning Sickness

Happy Sunday Everyone,

Just looking for some advice. Am 7 weeks with my 2nd pregnancy and the sickness has increased significantly over the past few days. I have some omeprazole left over from a previous illness and have read the instructions which say they are safe for pregnant women to take to settle the stomach, was wondering if anyone else had used them for this purpose and if they worked?!

Many thanks x

I don't think they'll help for sickness. They're for heartburn.

I had awful sickness at the start of my pregnancy and tried omeprazole but it didn't do anything. I'd have a chat with your GP before taking anything just to be on the safe side

Thank you both, it reduces the stomach acid you produce so was hopeful it may help. I'll give the GP a call on Tuesday. Smile

I wouldn't take anything without speaking to GP first but I'm pretty sure they will be safe as lots of pregnant women get prescribed omeprazole for heartburn.
Not sure they would do much/anything for morning sickness though.

Omeprazole can actually be really good for morning sickness in some people - esp if you have the bloaty/burpy/refluxy variety! but as PP said best to talk to GP first. It’s not a first line option and there are other meds that may be better to try first.
