Implantation bleeding/placenta settling in

Hi all, hope you're ok.
I've been bleeding from just under 6 weeks, I'm now just over 10 weeks. I had a scan at 8 weeks which showed little'uns heartbeat and that everything was fine. The bleeding has been light, but more often than not (here comes tmi) quite heavy and clotty. Yesterday I passed a couple of very big clots (although were more like a big clump of smaller clots). End of tmi!
I've spoken to the emergency gynaecology unit and, of course, they said it's a waiting game, but they also mentioned it could be implantation bleeding/something to do with the the placenta. I'm a little confused because, to me, implantation bleeding is when the egg settles in right at the beginning. Can implantation bleeding also be to do with the placenta? Also, why would it last this long and why would the bleeding be heavy?
Sorry for all my questions! TIA!

Hi Peanut, sorry I dont have any answers but I couldnt read and run. I'm going through something very similar at the moment, am 6+2 and have been bleeding for the past 10 days, started off little like spotting and has got worse since tuesday, heavier and yesterday I passed a clot. I've had some bloods done this week and shown my levels are rising and have a scan booked for friday. Every midwife I've seen and spoken too have said this can be completely normal, can be implantation or sometimes they dont know why. If they wont offer you another scan before your 12 week would it be worth booking a private one? Please take care of yourself, it's hard going xx

Hi NannyGR, so sorry you're going through this too. It is so difficult, isn't it! It's so good that your levels are rising. I've got everything crossed for you for Friday. Please do keep me updated 🤞
I did think about a private scan, but I'm a bit scared it will make the bleeding worse as it has seemed to when I went to the hospital, but I'll see how it goes.
Thinking of you. If you need a vent or a chat, I'm always here to listen! Take care too xx

I had LOTS of heavy bleeding in my first pregnancy. It was actually due to cervical erosion caused by the pregnancy hormones. Never had a nose bleed though which I'd have preferred. Good luck with your little bean.

And also should have added I had a health baby at the end of it all.

Peanut870 · 25/05/2020 17:01

Awww thank you @mummabearfourbabybears! I'm glad to hear that your little bean grew into a healthy baby Smile
I did wonder about cervical erosion, but neither the GP or EPU have mentioned that... but that might be because I can't have a transvaginal scan for them to diagnose it. I'm holding out for the 12-week scan in 2 weeks and have everything crossed.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it really makes me feel less alone xx

Hi. I've been having similar for about a week now and I'm just over 7weeks. Had a scan and everything so far seems to be ok. Last year I had a MC and have been TTC for 3 years so I really panicked when it started. The hospital were pretty reluctant to give me a scan with everything going on and the midwife team that I called after said if I got a referral from the doctor they didn't think they could refuse. So might be worth a try.

Peanut870 · 26/05/2020 21:45

Hey @198435years, so sorry that you're going through this, especially after a MC Flowers although glad your recent scan was ok. If you don't mind me asking, how heavy is your bleeding? Mine slowed down this morning to a brown, but this evening it's gone back to red and clotty Sad Its such an emotional rollercoaster! I think I'm going to hold out for the 12-week scan... I don't think the GP will refer me for anything earlier, unless I go to A&E and it's no where near heavy enough.
I'll be thinking about you and your little bean. Please do keep us updated xx

@Peanut870 I had 3 days of brown spotting throughout the day (maybe slightly lighter but not much to a regular period) and had my scan showing everything was ok on the 3rd day. It's continued since then til today for a further 4 days but lighter brown spotting mainly in the morning. It's such an anxious time and I wish it wasn't happening for you either. Even though Friday showed everything to be ok, as the spotting has continued I'm unsure whether things are still continuing and to wait a month to know seems a lot. I spoke to my doctor and she said it almost seemed inhumane to make me wait to find out whether it did continue so has suggested when the spotting does stop to see if they'll see me again and that way I'll know. I'll be thinking of you and I really hope everything is ok. There's so many positive stories so I try and tell myself to be positive until I'm told otherwise but some days worrying wins xx
