Can't decide which to get. Does the rocking stand really help soothe a baby?

ok then we had a rocking one and fixed one. Rocking one ended up getting rocked too much ie desperately! during long sleepless nights...did it help? not sure but it gave me something to do whilst in a sleepless daze!

We have a rocking one and dd is now 8wks. Can't remember the amount of times I have fallen asleep with hand firmly attached to moses basket, one arm sticking out of bed. I would say rocking.

Thanks girls, can't seem to make a decision without consulting you lot - I'm edging towards a rocking one, partly because I think it might help anyway and partly because I don't think my cats would like it if it moved so hopefully it might help discourage em for climbing in for a cuddle !
