Hair loss

Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone has suffered with hair loss during pregnancy?

I have recently noticed 2 large bald patches on my scalp I have blood tests next week but I am keen to talk to anyone who has experienced this before I am so worried I am going to loose my hair after reading up on the internet.

I've been shedding insane amounts of hair and have no idea why. Bloods came back normal and I'm keeping on top of my vitamins...I feel like I'll have barely any hair left by the time I'm due!!!

Hi @NS29 I'm almost 29 weeks and my hair is in an awful state. I usually have very think hair and I'm now down to about a third of my natural state. I loose hair all day every day, and after a wash it cones out in huge clumps. I have no bald spots yet but I can only imagine they are inevitable!

I have read alot and everything suggests this will come to an end once this cycle of hair is finished (approx 3 months) then we will get the hair growth back. It can be caused by stress, pregnancy itself or hormone deficiency. It's worth getting your hormone levels checked - iron is a usual culprit. I have invested in some hair care products and a silk night cap to see if it helps reduce the hair fall.

I think my issue is not being able to shake the worry. It seems utterly ridiculous and vain and I really dont know what wrong with me! I just feel rotten about the whole thing. You are definitely not alone, and I'm sure it will get better after pregnancy.

Hi there, I am in the exact same position you were in back then. I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and I have lost about 60% of my hair. I was just wondering if you could tell me the outcome of your situation.I am currently on iron tablets for slightly low iron levels. Did the hair loss slow down or stop? Has your hair returned to normal or did you suffer from post p hair loss also. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
