When did you get stretch marks?

I had my daughter at 38 weeks and didn't get any stretchmarks.
Currently pregnant with baby number two and wondering if I will get them this time around.
Did you get stretchmarks on your bump? And if so, how many weeks were you?
Also, is there anyone that didn't get them for their first pregnancy but got them for later pregnancies?

Around 34 weeks I think and they were big ones

Delta1 · 23/05/2020 09:32

Didn't get a single one with either pregnancy. Two huge babies. 10 lbs plus. If you didn't get any last time you probably won't this time. I did use bio oil but I think largely it's genetics.
Bizarrely though I got some in my late teens from losing weight quickly - only about half a stone too - so it's not like I can't get them!

I thought I had none and was feeling pretty smug . After delivery though I saw a ton. They aren’t the type that look like red/purple lines or markings . They are like indents on my kinda like cellulite marks

MichelleOR84 · 23/05/2020 09:47

*indents on my tummy kinda like cellulite marks

sleepwhenidie · 23/05/2020 09:49

None. I also think genes play a big part.

None with any of my 3 pregnancies. I used bio oil but no idea if helped. My mum and sister have none either from their 5 pregnancies so another vote for genetics.

MissSmiley · 23/05/2020 10:22

Bio Oil is great for fading them but it's mainly down to skin type, I had them on my breasts as a teenager so you can imagine what my belly looks like after 5 kids

Been reading this thread with curiosity.
Not sure on genetics as my mom nor her sisters or my cousins had any stretch marks at all, either during puberty or during pregnancy.
Me on the other hand was covered in them during puberty, all over my thighs and on my boobs (and I have very small boobs, so go figure!)
I'm only small so I don't think it's about size. I'm nearly 22 weeks and I have one stretch mark already on one of my boobs 😭
I'm using palmers cocoa butter for pregnancy and I'm praying I don't get any more stretch marks, but I have a horrid feeling I'm going to look like a stick of rock by the time baby gets here! 😭😭😭

None with either pregnancy. I was a bit older (36 and 38) and someone told me they are less common with older mothers as the skin is already a bit slacker so doesn't stretch so much.

No idea if that's true.

I don’t know about genes. My mum went over due with me and my younger sibling and had no stretch marks.

I got killer ones in week 42 with DC1. I’d been snuggly massaging in the bio oil and admiring my flawless skin up until that point Grin.

Had DC2 at 37 weeks and didn’t get any more stretch marks during that pregnancy. I think my body had just been stretched to its limit with DC1!

AvoidingTheWineAisle · 23/05/2020 10:56

smuggly

loubert89 · 23/05/2020 11:04

Mine started showing up around 30 weeks.

No really pregnancy related, more as a teanager having a growth spurt

wanderlove · 23/05/2020 12:05

I got stretch marks on my thighs and hips during puberty despite being quite slim and my mum had bad Stretch marks so I thought I would get them terribly. First pregnancy I lathered my belly in rose hip oil and didn't get any. Number 2 and 3 I didn't and still didn't get any. I think it may help as I am tall and therefore the baby fits into my long torso and didn't have a massive bump. Saying that my two 5 foot friends also didn't get any. It seems random; do all you can with oils and remember they really fade after baby arrives. I do know one friend who got them in labour which seems really unfair!

Pygmyseahorse · 23/05/2020 14:20

37 weeks stretch marks on just my boobs and a few more added to them when they shrunk and flopped right down post birth :(

Cherryrainbow · 23/05/2020 14:34

I got mine in the last few weeks of my 1st. Nearly 7 years later I'm expecting some more with my 2nd but I know they will fade and I've gotten used to the way it looks x

Girlmum91 · 23/05/2020 15:11

Gave birth at 38 weeks, gained a total of 35 pounds and had no stretch marks. Didn't use cream or oil but I did drink a lot of water. My Mum didn't get them either. I think it must be genetic?
