Early scan- internal (prev miscarriages)

So I have had 3 miscarriages, the first two I only had scans once I started bleeding, the third one I had a scan at 6 and 8 weeks both internal, baby then died at 9 weeks and 4 days which we found out at a scan at 10 and half weeks

My mum blamed the scans being internal for that loss and now that I'm pregnant again and been offered an early scan at 7 weeks, she has gone off on one saying how she thinks they are dangerous and will cause a higher risk for miscarriage.....

I have so much anxiety because of previous miscarriages and just want to know everything is okay

I know in my mind that there is basically no risk and having sex is rougher than an internal scan! They will try abdominal first but in the past I've had a tilted uterus and I'm a bit fat so its been difficult 🤷‍♀️

Guess I'm just looking for reassurance because even my friends who know dont think its a good idea 🤦‍♀️

I don't believe there is any correlation at all between having an internal scan and having a miscarriage.
I had one around 6/7 weeks and am now over 28 weeks. Baby is fine.

Im so sorry you’ve had miscarriages. I myself have had several miscarriages and gone down the rabbit hole of reading lots of scientific papers on the subject. There is no evidence that ultrasound cause miscarriage and actually, the tlc approach of early reassurance scans actually improves the pregnancy outcomes in patients with recurrent miscarriage.

@sel2223 thank you for your reply! Thats great to hear and super helpful! Congrats :)

@tiggykate I'm sorry for your losses too! Its hard not to worry about everything, I had an early internal scan with my daughter and shes now 15 months old but for some reason with others saying they wouldn't has made me question it, but then why would they do them if there's such a risk?

I wish i had the strength to wait till the 12 week scan 🤦‍♀️
