Is it worth it? Since covid means that many services are not allowing partners in for the appointment, I was wondering if an 8 week scan might be good for my partner, as well as providing reassurance. Have you had an early scan before and did you find it beneficial?

I had an early scan on my first pregnancy due to previous fertility issues, which showed a MMC, had an early scan for my 2nd pregnancy to confirm viability, which it did. For me it was beneficial as if I hadn’t had early scans, god knows how long it would of been before we know about the MMC, and the 2nd time, it relieved some of my anxiety

@soulandsunshine, i had an early scan 11 weeks with my 1st as my nhs scan was booked for week after Christmas & we wanted to Give grandparents a Christmas card with scan pic in. I'm now pregnant again & have booked an early scan 9weeks +6 days for some reassurance & also so my husband can come along too, the only thing I'd say is if at all possible to make it closer to when your 12 week scan would be so that you'll see an actual 'baby' on screen rather than a blob 😊 congratulations 🥳

To clarify what I mean, there was a massive difference between the 11 week scan & the 12+5 week scan I was amazed 😁 such an exciting time!

If you can I personally would wait until you are much closer to 12 weeks but the choice is yours, I went for an early scan on Wednesday being 6 weeks and 3 days and all they could see was a sac, so I have to wait a further 3 weeks unless I book a private scan to see if the pregnancy is viable. It is very stressful not getting the images and info you need so personally I would wait, I know exactly how hard it is, the not knowing really does mess with your mind.

Hello,

I had an early scan at 10 weeks at window the womb as I wanted my husband to see the baby for the first time with me.

It was well worth experiencing seeing the baby for the first time together!

@soulandsunshine I’m a first time mum and had a scan at 10 weeks. Loved my partner being able to see our baby and definitely good for reassurance. I didn’t feel as nervous about going to the nhs scan alone. x

Yes I had a scan at 8 weeks with my husband and I didn't then feel nervous about the 12 week one being alone until the day before.

I had a private can last week - 9 weeks and my partner came. It was so reassuring to have him there with me and seeing our baby was the best thing ever!

Thank you! I've decided to book a scan at 10 weeks. Appreciate your comments.
