A little advice before I'll be able to sleep, please!

I'm 11+2 and just found some blood when I went to the loo. I've had no pains which I take to be a good sign, I have thrush that I've just been using canesten cream for, and a cold which I haven't taken anything for.

I've had a bath and put a liner in my undies to keep an eye on the situation, but I think it's stopped. There wasn't much, but it was a bit of a shock to find it.

Am I ok to just go to bed and call my midwife for advice tomorrow, or should I go and get checked out tonight?

This is my first pg and while I don't want to make a fuss about nothing, I obv don't want to ignore it if I need to do anything!

I would see how it is in the morning. it's quite common to have a little bit of bleeding in early pregnancy so I wouldn't worryh just yet.
Call the midwife in the morning and see what she says

No pain is a good sign. Easy for me to say but do try not to worry. I have bled in 2 out of 3 pregnancies one ended in a mc and the other is upstairs asleep(bled worse with her than the one I mc). Try and not to worry and call your mw in the morning - probably if you phone they will tell you to see if you have any more in the morning anyway. Def phone right away if you ahve any pain though.

Im sure an expert will be along shortly to sort you out.

No expert - but bled in both my pgs - both healthy babes . It's bloody scary isn't it.

I was always advised to let the mw know whenever I bled (which got a little tedious with ds where I bled about 3 x week through almost the whole pg - they let me off eventually!!

No pain is good. Small amounts of blood in early pg are common - esp around the time you would 'normall' have had a period. Was the blood red, pink or brown - pink or brown also means old blood, also good (Oh, and even pain isn't nec anything disasterous - I had cramps, pains, the works with ds.

You may find you do bleed again in the morning - becuase you've been lying down all night (hopefully)

You mw may refer you to an EPU (early Preg Unit) where they can check everything looks OK (ie scan). If you feel like you need that reassurance, you can self refer, or ring NHS direct & they can refer you.

If you start feeling freaked, NHS Direct are fab with this imho - you don't feel like you're getting 'annoying timewaster' scribbled all over your medical notes, but get good, calm advice. I rang them a few times & they were always excellent. Much better than the docs in hospital.

I was hoping no one would ask what colour it was, because then I would have to admit that I don't know because my knickers were bright turquoise... liner is now white based (I use washable ones, but will be able to se more round the pretty flowers)

will watch out for the update! I am sure if it was anything serious you'd have had a lot more bleeding by now.
That said, someone I know had a major bleed (think scary horror film scene in the bath) at about 12 weeks. She is fine, and due to give birth in a few weeks' time, so even heavy bleeding isn't always a sign of a definite miscarriage.
