Eating too much sugar in first trimester?

So I had been eating pretty healthily, DH and I have been trying for a while now and I was feeling like it'd never happen.

Then after a stressful few weeks at work I was feeling a bit rubbish and bought some percy pigs, cake, icecream. The whole shabang. Then I missed my period and finally got a BFP.

But I've spent pretty much the last week binging! I know it's probably too early to get excited, but what if I've done some damage? A quick google was more scary than I was expecting it to be .

Has anyone eaten just waaay too much sugar like this and has everything been okay?

I think you will be fine. People take medications and drink alcohol without knowing they're pregnant. Now that you know, you can start eating healthy and undo the damage quite easily.

You wont have done damage, the little one will be absolutely fine! Try not to worry :)
I have HG and my diet has been awful, my midwives / consultants advised I eat/drink whatever I could no matter what it was.
I drank nothing but full sugar pepsi for 3 entire months during the 1st to 2nd trimester as it was the only thing I could keep down. Currently 38+5 with no known issues and a baby on 50th centile Smile

Damage from ice cream no.

You'll be fine!! Don't stress x

Hopefully you don't end up with morning sickness, but if you do you'll find yourself eating whatever stays down, which for me was very very unhealthy, manly things beige coloured lol.

My morning sickness only goes away with carbs... preferably fast acting carbs...

I hope that it will get better in a few weeks, I don't want to gain too much weight!

I worry about my diet all the time -but try not to worry -it hasn’t been that long and most people find it hard to eat well in the first trimester. Box it off and focus on weekend treats from tomorrow.

Thanks everyone, this has been really reassuring - I'm stocking up on healthy bits and pieces now!
