No bump!

Hey! Just wondering if I'm being stupid - I am almost 10 weeks pregnant and don't have a bump or anything. In fact I've been quite sick so feel like I'm smaller than before - is that normal?! I know it's only teeny tiny but it's hard to believe there's a baby in there when I'm losing weight! Just seeing reassurance haha

Totally normal!! The first few months is mostly bloat. Everybodys bump 'pops' at different times, mine didn't really start to show until about 17 weeks and even then it wasnt very obvious.

kidsareok · 21/05/2020 14:44

@Sunsage thank you! I know it's super super early but expected to feel like at least a little bump when I press down or something but 🤷🏼‍♀️! I guess there must be more room inside than I think!!

Really normal. I don’t think the baby comes above your pelvis until 14 weeks.

I didn’t have much of a bump until 22+ weeks and I was skinny (back then!). I had a bit of a bloat before then but was wearing my size 10 normal jeans until 24 weeks or so.

Zoey92 · 21/05/2020 14:48

I barely had a bump till maybe 17/20 weeks dont worry everyone carrys different ☺

Lordfrontpaw · 21/05/2020 14:49

I didn't even when I was 3 months - still wearing size 8 (ahahahahahahah - never again)

ParkheadParadise · 21/05/2020 14:50

I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 5mths with dd2.
I was still in my normal clothes.

Natalie654321 · 21/05/2020 14:52

Currently 16+1 and still no bump!!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 21/05/2020 14:54

Most people who have a bump at 10 weeks are proudly showing off their bloat. I wouldn’t worry about it. Smile My first pregnancy, it wasn’t until 20+ weeks that I started showing at all. I’m now 22 weeks with DC2 and have a really obvious bump. I look much further than 22 weeks but I didn’t start showing at all until about 17 weeks.

OhArsebags · 21/05/2020 14:56

Completely normal.

I lose weight first 20 weeks or so with sickness so my tummy always actually looked flatter at that point!

Third pregnancy, each one I’ve not stated to show a bump until 23 weeks or so and I’ve never actually got that big, even towards the end.

I think all we see in the media is models with big, round beach ball bellies and we get worried! I used to compare myself in my first pregnancy and scare myself that something was wrong.

Apparently, my uterus tilts backwards which is why I don’t show as much.

peachypetite · 21/05/2020 14:57

10 weeks is very early. You’ll get your bump!

Dollywilde · 21/05/2020 14:58

If it makes you feel any better, here’s an underwear pic of me* (size 12 pre pregnancy) at 11 weeks, when I was desperately hoping to see a bit of a bump, and me now at 28 weeks. It will come!!

  • sorry for lack of warning to anyone who didn’t want to see me in my pants Grin
georgialondon · 21/05/2020 14:59

For my first I got a noticeable bump at 6 months.

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/05/2020 15:04

Totally normal! I’m 15 weeks and have just started rounding out, but I have a bit of a chubby round tummy anyway so it’s hard to tell what’s what! About a week ago I noticed a lump just above my public line when lying down that was obviously baby, but yeh not much. It’s still only what, 10cm from crown to rump now, it’s only 4cm at 10 weeks. Not enough to move much inside Smile

You’ll get there don’t worry! I’m in no rush for a bump having seen some very big and uncomfortable friends and family members. It can stay small and compact as far as I’m concerned!

Frazzlerock · 21/05/2020 15:16

I think it does depend on the length of your waist. I have a short waist and show very early (12/13 weeks) , but I used to know one woman who has a lovely long waist and didn't show the whole way through! Even by the end she had the tiniest bulge.

Alychloe · 21/05/2020 15:43

Yes it’s normal! I’m 19 weeks and still no bump! Only when I lie down can you see it :)

Siobhan1989 · 21/05/2020 18:45

I didn’t get a bump until about 30 weeks lol, my abdomen just got wider and wider gradually... deffo at ten weeks I still had abs, now at 34 weeks, people I don’t know can only just tell I’m pregnant 😅 don’t worry! Xx

Daisysandviolets · 21/05/2020 18:49

I'm 21 weeks and I've only just started to get a bump if I wear figure hugging clothes, if not I just look fat x

Camia · 21/05/2020 18:56

I could feel a tiny bump when my bladder was full around 12 or 13 weeks but couldn't see anything until around 16 weeks (and even then only from the right angle.) It actually popped out around 20 weeks and has been growing quick since. I wouldn't worry, everyone is different and especially with your first baby stays tucked in there pretty well.

Catherine1210 · 22/05/2020 23:41

I’m nearly 20 weeks and still just look bloated no bump yet! But there’s still time Grin everyone’s bumps grow at different rates, aslong as your scans and movements when you start feeling them are ok... These are the signs to focus on xx

sel2223 · 23/05/2020 10:00

Most early 'bumps' are just bloat. I don't know anyone IRL who had a bump at all in the first trimester, most didn't show till around 20 weeks (and some only had teeny neat bumps right till the end).
For me, it was about 16/17 weeks when I developed a small bump. I'm now 28 weeks and there's no mistaking it!

FirstTimeMum31 · 30/05/2020 12:59

This thread is so reassuring. I carry weight round my middle and only really notice any form of bump in the evening after eating, I would definitely say it's more bloated and hard. I'm so glad to have read this thread I'm 17 weeks and was starting to worry that I haven't got a noticeable bump! Thank you to the OP and all of you who have written in, it's so reassuring! Smile

EithneBlue · 30/05/2020 13:04

You're not being stupid! I'm 15 weeks and honestly it looks like it could be a large lunch.

peachypetite · 30/05/2020 21:11

There’s a long way to go yet OP! I’m almost 14 weeks and I just look a bit podgy round the middle now.

Prettylittlelady · 30/05/2020 21:50

I’m currently 20+3 and have only have a proper ‘pregnant’ bump for less than 2 weeks - in the first trimester there wasn’t anything there at all. It’ll come x
