Tips to wear a mask

Hi, but random but I have midwife in a few hours and have just been told I have to wear a mask. I have no problem doing so, except last time I tried (a week ago) it made me throw up inside a minute. Any tips to help me keep it on for a full appt? I think maybe it was the stuffiness plus a light medicated smell that did it? Thanks anyways 😁

I had to wear one for a Dr appt earlier in the week. I put it on and sat in the waiting room feeling a bit panicky. Try to keep your breathing slow. I started counting in for 3 then out for 3. Once I went into my appt I was distracted from it. I was relieved to take it off once I got outside though.

I had to wear one yesterday for my whooping cough vaccine. Don't put it on upside down 🤣 I did and tripped over a step. I did find it very clammy wearing it. Maybe ask if you can wait outside until you're called in and then put it on then x

No tips other then I noticed that home made fabric masks are a lot more uncomfortable then professional ones made of breathing synthetic materials or professional cotton ones.

How long does it need to be on for? Could you suck a boiled sweet or chew some gum at the same time?

Thanks all, some good ideas. The new one is a fabric one now instead of the papery disposable and I tried it on for a while. Started feeling grot but not as badly as the disposable. Will also give some gum and the breathing a go thank you all

I’m wearing a mask at work and sometime secretly have to chew gum as I’m pregnant and it makes me feel so nauseous otherwise! Works for me!
