No sorry! My daughter went fully engaged very early but was 11 days late! She bobbed in and out for a few weeks too xx

Yeah, they tend to go up and down for a while. DS was sometimes engaged, sometimes he'd have floated up again. He was born a week early but I definitely had a 30-odd-week appointment where the doc told me he was engaged. Then he wasn't.

No it’s not early and they pop in and out too, so next time might not be head down. You might have head Engaged from 27 weeks for example and still go full term x

I’m 33+6 and saw midwife today... 4/5 engaged.

I’ve researched it, doesn’t seem to have much relationship to labour which I’m glad about because I’m not ready for him to come out yet lol

FirstTM2020 · 21/05/2020 20:14

@Siobhan1989 think it goes the opposite way so if your 4/5 engaged, that means the baby is not engaged for you anyway if ive got that right, the less the number the more engaged the baby is my midwife explained 🤷🏽‍♀️ xx

Yeah that’s what I mean... 5/5 is not engaged at all 1/5 is ready to come out, so mines only just starting to engage

With DS i had a check with the midwife and he wasn't engaged at all - she said "sorry but I think you've got weeks to go yet", went into labour naturally three days later.

I'm not convinced midwifery is an exact science!

FirstTM2020 · 22/05/2020 10:59

@Colouringinbook wow 🤣 im consultant led and they all say different things im like wtf... the midwife was like yeah he's 2/5 engaged better get your bags packed... and then reading everyones comments its like don't lie to me like hun 😂
