Sore c-section scar

I had my DC1 three years ago and my scar healed nicely, never had any issues with it other than the usual slight numbness and maybe occasional itching with clothing.

I'm 37 weeks, due to have my second section at 39 weeks and these past couple of days my scar has been feeling a bit tender and sore.

I notice it mainly when I'm lying in bed and stretch or reposition my leg, it's only uncomfortable from about 1 inch inwards on the left hand side. But it's a dull tenderness/ itchiness. I also sneezed yesterday and it REALLY hurt.

I asked my partner to look at it throughout the day and he says it looks slightly red right where I pointed and has looked better and worse as the day has gone on.

Should I contact my midwife, is this normal? Anyone else experienced this? It's not causing major pain or anything but I have a feeling it could maybe get worse and it's making me a little apprehensive to move around freely.

I have my preop next week so thinking if it stays as is I'll wait and mention it then?

Thanks :)

I had a c section over 11 years ago and now with my second pregnancy I get twinges across my scar. Would think it would be non existent at this point! I'm only 21 weeks but I spoke to my midwife about it and she said that sometimes there can be scar tissue underneath that's tender and it's normal to feel somewhat uncomfortable as we are stretching. With you being so close to the big day though I would definitely mention it at pre-op to put your mind at rest.

I'd mention it so they can check it if needs be. Are you planning another section?

Yes I am having an ELCS, will mention it at my preop I think if it doesn't get worse. Thanks :)
