I had one too. I think once mine started healing it did get a bit itchy, but I guess it could also be an infection? Probably best to talk to your health visitor

I had one (DS now 10 weeks) I had a slight bit of itching mainly due to irritation from constantly wearing pads.

Trying having a wash with just plain water and laying naked from the waist down for a bit. I did this for a couple of days with DS sleeping beside me and it really helped.

If it doesn’t improve soon or you get tummy pain/fever please contact your GP

I also felt itchy (and quite achy) recovering from stitches. A warm bath with a few drops of lavender oil helped so much.

I had one after giving birth in January.
Don’t remember itching but was very achey for a while. The midwife recommended a bath with milk and lavender oil. Apparently the milk helps to bind the oil.

Mine was super itchy too . No infection . I found it felt better after a bath . Maybe a shower wasn’t cleaning it enough ?
I don’t even know if baths are allowed with the stitching but that only occurred to me after the fact , plus it healed just fine .

My other tip is to lay a towel down on the bed and let your self air out naked . Do this as much as you can !

Itching is often considered a sign of a wound healing. I don't remember any itching, but I've had two 2nd degree tears, one healed well, the other did not heal completely. The difference between how they felt was extraordinary. With the one that healed well my mobility improved every day, as did my comfort sitting, bathing and using the toilet. With the one that did not heal well, I did not have the same progressive improvement. I also had pain when wiping, that did not improve. Over the first weeks and months I had thrush and repeated bouts of BV (smelly!). It's fine to bathe, but avoid soaps or anything strongly fragranced.

Hope this reassures.

BTW I didn't tear at all with subsequent babies.
