Name opinions

So I was hoping I could get some opinions on a name we are considering.
We are super struggling to find names we like. We actually found out the baby's sex at the 20 week scan (boy) just so we only had to think of names for one!
So the only name so far we both kind of like is Ezren. But it's very uncommon/I've never heard it used and so have no perception if it would seem a bit extra/fantasy to people. We don't want to tell people in real life so I'm hoping the wonderful anonymous internet can help me out. Thoughts?

I like it, it's a nice choice and not too extra/fantasy for me but I was a pretty little liars fan and there was a lad called Ezra on that so similar x

Chickoletta · 19/05/2020 21:34

Is this a name? Never heard of it before. Ezra is nice.

ivfgottostaypositive · 19/05/2020 21:39

Are you into gaming as it sounds like one of those world of Warcraft type names

Personally I don't like anything which sounds "made up" and unless it is a name that means something culturally to you (not a game!) then it sounds a bit tried hard to be honest - Ezra is better

BabyG123 · 19/05/2020 21:39

I've never heard of it which makes me like it!

I always remember have 5 Jacobs in a year group and it was a nightmare. Nice to be different!

SquirtleSquad · 19/05/2020 21:40

Ezra is nice, Ezren sounds harsh and non-name-ish.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 19/05/2020 21:49

My thoughts are - is that a name? It sounds made-up. Which is not my taste at all.

How about Elliot?

IncrediblySadToo · 19/05/2020 21:51

It sounds quite harsh. I'd assume it was from a tv show I don't watch GOT or something

lockdownpregnancy · 19/05/2020 21:53

I think you've answered your own question by saying you don't want to tell anyone the name! Unless you don't want to reveal it until baby is born, then that's different.
If you don't want to tell anyone then maybe consider a different name that you would be proud to tell people?
I agree with other pp's that Ezra is a nice name, but it's totally up to you 🥰

loubert89 · 20/05/2020 06:48

I like Ezren, but that shouldn't matter. Do you like it?

MichelleOR84 · 20/05/2020 07:46

@lockdownpregnancy I didn’t tell a soul my name choices for my first pregnancy. I didn’t want a second opinion . I LOVED my boy name although I was hesitant on my girls name . My sister announced her name choice and got a lot of criticism and it broke my heart for her. I didn’t want to go through that .

@NeuroMama I like Ezren . I’ve never heard it before but it’s familiar and easy to pronounce. It looks nice written out .

The problem with getting second opinions is you’ll always find those who don’t like the name , no matter what name you pick 😔

Indigogirl88 · 20/05/2020 07:53

I like it Grin

Newchapter2020 · 20/05/2020 08:58

I like it, very similar (obviously) to Ezra.

BeMorePacific · 20/05/2020 09:04

Really like it, and weirdly I really don’t like the name Ezra! It’s a cool choice x x

NeuroMama · 20/05/2020 09:06

Thank you ladies 😊 I knew I could rely on you for some good opinions.

@lockdownpregnancy it's not that were embarrassed to tell people in real life, as you say its just that we don't want to reveal until we make a final choice and baby is here.

@MichelleOR84 oh yeh totally agree that people are always gonna not like it. Harsh opinions won't mean I won't use it, just curious to see a range of them to help make a choice. I have very thick skin over here 😂

@BabyG123 we are specifically aiming for an unusual (but not too weird) name to avoid having lots of his peers with the same name.
My partner has a very common name and in our (realtively small) friendship circle 2 other people have the same name! And so now they all have stupid nicknames. I on the other hand have an old fashioned name that was unpopular when my parents gave it to me so I have only ever met old ladies with it, which is kind of fun.

I like it Smile

You will always have people who don't like whatever name you pick, especially if they prefer more traditional names but I think it's lovely! X

lockdownpregnancy · 20/05/2020 10:31

@MichelleOR84 totally agree! We've picked our baby boys name and not telling anyone, as people can be so critical! We had one name and ever since I keep getting texts and calls off my mom pleading with me not to call him Stanley! That was the name we liked but it really hurts your feelings when people are so negative!
We have ours and keeping it to ourselves until he arrives!
OP go with whatever makes you happy hun! Screw everyone else! 🥰
