Ladies I'm slightly confused and also slightly concerned about my weight gain.
Before I was pregnant I was 133lb and a size 10. I'm now 21 weeks pregnant and I'm 153lb! 😭
That's 20lbs!
A lot of threads show that women gain that amount through their ENTIRE pregnancy and I'm only half way!
I'm still a size 10-12 in maternity jeans, so I'm all baby.
However am I too big? If it's all baby is this a sign of Gestational Diabetes? I don't have any other symptoms (extreme thirst, fatigue etc) but because of lockdown my bloods have not been take since I was 13 weeks.
My dip test last week was fine at my scan and my sonographer said baby size was in normal range and nothing was wrong and another dip test yesterday when I had to go to hospital for reduced movement and that was fine too.
I may just be having a mental breakdown/baby brain moment, but I am concerned!
My next blood test won't be until my 25 week check with my midwife.
I just feel Ive packed on so much more weight than most?
Thoughts? Slaps around the face and advice welcome 😂

I can only offer empathy - am in exactly the same position! 130lbs at start, 150lbs now at 21 weeks 🙈
I definitely think lockdown has contributed in my case - lack of daily general movement / lack of gym / increase in food... but still, 20lbs at the halfway point is scary, I get you!

Honestly OP, don't worry about it. I was 126lbs/9st exactly when I fell pregnant and 168lbs by the time I gave birth. I didn't feel huge and in my mind I was "all baby" too. In reality, I can see looking back at photos that I did gain weight all over really, but because it was all in proportion it wasn't that obvious to me at the time. Anyway, I ended up having a section so couldn't exercise after the birth but I breastfed and the weight just fell off, was back to pre pregnancy weight by 6 weeks post partum and lost another stone slowly since then. Try not to obsess about the scales too much while your test results are all coming back fine, it all evens itself out in the end Smile

Thank you ladies! I just keep going up nearly 3lb per week, but lockdown has definitely been a contributing factor! No gym, lack of movement and being so bored all I do is eat!
I need to do more exercise but the longer I'm at home the lazier I'm getting! 😫😫😫

I gained 10kilo by 21 weeks ( 22lbs). Like you I was still a size 10/12 in maternity clothing though. I wonder if a lot of it was water weight . I only gained an additional 6 kilo though and just by giving birth I somehow lost 9 kilo . In the end I really didn’t gain much . The left over weight I gained I needed to nurse .

Both my sisters and my mom all gained 50-80lbs in their pregnancies and lost it pretty quickly . I know others who put on very little but struggled to lose it . I wouldn’t worry too much because you just don’t know how you will gain or lose or what your body needs or craves . I never went crazy with junk food but if I felt like cake I ate it. I kinda just ate what I felt like and honestly being pregnant is like being drunk . I had no will power with eating lol

I’m pregnant again ( 14 weeks) and scared to weigh myself. Lockdown really isn’t helping 😩

Try not to worry too much, I also put on around 24lbs by 20 weeks in my previous pregnancy. Ended up putting on nearly 50lbs by the end!

There’s no such thing as “all baby” your baby only weighs a certain amount (probably around 1lb, if that) as does your placenta, waters etc. Don’t be fooled by thinking it’s “all baby” but also don’t worry about it, just try and eat healthily and enjoy your pregnancy.

I do need to start cutting out the crap! My meals are actually good solid meals (I do have the odd take away) but it's the crap in between!
As pp said, lockdown has ruined us all! 😂😂
Thank you for your replies again! It does make me feel better that I'm 'normal' 😁😬😝
