I’ve got my first scan on Friday but on Saturday morning I started spotting brown blood (sorry TMISmile ) it was only in the morning then stopped, Sunday I had it again in the morning but it carried on very lightly throughout the day and then today I’ve woken up and it was heavier, as if you were coming off of your period. It has slowed down again now. This is my first pregnancy and I’m so scared and I can’t help thinking the worst!Sad Has anyone else had this? I’ve rang doctors but have been told to wait until Friday

I had exactly the same thing which started day before dating scan and it's continued all week.
during scan baby was absolutely fine, so I'm hoping it's normal - EPU said there's no need to scan, but was given no information as to what might be causing it.

You probably already know this, but brown blood is older blood (i.e. it has been oxidised by coming into contact with air) so if you had a scan the day before I'd guess it's much less of a concern than if, say, you'd had a fresh red bleed - though that isn't necessarily a bad sign either. I also know that spotting/discharge is common in the first trimester.

I'm no expert and you're definitely doing the right thing in getting it checked out but I try not to worry too much. I know that's daft advice to any pregnant woman, but there's a great chance everything is fine!

Best of luck

I had it. At the exact same time as you (almost 12 weeks). I was due my 12 week scan the following week but it was going into a bank holiday so I paid for a private scan. I just couldn’t take the worry / not knowing. Everything was absolutely fine and the sonographer told me it was very common. I know how worried you must be though, try to put your feet up and take it easy today.

Thank you so much! Knowing that it’s quite common has made me feel better!

I had a little bleed on Friday - didn’t last more than an hour. Had my scan today and everything is totally normal with no reason to worry about the bleed. I hope everything goes well for you too. X

@MissingSilence how long did it last for you - I've had blood in my discharge for 6 days now and I'm not sure how long to leave it before I ask for another scan - I had a scan last Wednesday and everything was fine.

Had my scan bought forward, I went in yesterday for it and have been told I’ve had a miscarriage, I’m devastated but thank you all for your support

Oh @Nic94, I'm so, so sorry to hear this.

I'm sending you lots of love and good thoughts over the internet. Thinking of you.

@Nic94 I'm so so sorry, it's not fair, thinking of you xx
