Hi!
Please delete if this is not allowed.
My wife and I are expecting our first baby on 1st November. We had our 12 weeks scan a few weeks ago and waiting patiently for our 20 week scan :)
In the meantime we thought it might be fun to utilise some of our knowledge from work and try to create a model which can predict a baby's gender from a 12 week scan. We plan to use machine learning, which basically means we will train a computer model to categorise scans into boys and girls, by feeding it as many baby scan images (along with correct gender) as possible. This is the same way in which you can teach a computer to tell the different between a cat and dog for example.
To do this we need as many baby scan photos as possible, along with the confirmed gender. If you know your baby's gender and you don't mind us using your scan in this project, then please post a photo of the scan and the gender in this post, or send them to me by private message if you prefer. These photos will be anonymised and we will delete them as soon as we have trained the model.
Image requirements:
12 week NHS scans only please.
The photo of the scan must be in landscape.
The scan should fill as much of the photo as possible.
If this is successful we envision creating a tool where people can upload their 12 week scan and it will predict the gender, hopefully with some accuracy. It might turn out not to be possible though, but worth a try!
Kind regards,
Tim and Katie
