Hi all I'm currently 5wks and 3 days pregnant after 3 chemical miscarriages in a row! I have also had 2 before my ds where there no was no heartbeat. Obviously now I'm absolutely prettried of the same thing again!
Iv had my first appt with my midwife over the phone today made her aware of all this but she wasn't interested as my first booking appt won't be until I'm 8/9 weeks and again that will be over the phone. She advised I have to wait for a letter to come for a dating scan and bloods etc.
I'm really looking at getting a private scan done at just over 7 weeks for the reassurance since the midwifes were now that interested.
Has anyone had similar experience or had a private scan recently? When is best to go? Thanks

Yes I did, at 7 weeks after a previous miscarriage. It cost me £90 and was worth every penny for my mental health!!

So I would say yes go for it x

I had a private scan this morning, I have no pregnancy symptoms at all apart from occasional cramping so it was well worth it for me. Made me feel so much better

I’ve had good and bad experiences. With my first daughter I had a scan at 7+4 after a bleed. All was fine.

Had a chemical after that and then fell pregnant spring 2018. Experienced bleeding with that pregnancy, was referred for an early scan at 7 weeks. All was fine, good strong HB. We had statistics like 96% of pregnancies continue at this point after a HB is detected, most bleeding during early pregnancy is benign, the bleeding was coming from my cervix and wouldn’t harm the baby.
I had another bleed at 10 weeks, got another scan at 10+3 and unfortunately baby had died at 9+3. I will be honest and say that the early scan we’d had just made this harder to bear.

I then fell pregnant again and managed to hold off having a scan until my 12 week one, it was really hard but I’m pleased I did. Baby was fine!

I'm sorry OP, it sounds like you've been through a lot Flowers. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that there is much a midwife could do or say at this stage to provide reassurance as it a waiting game (albeit an anxious one). In terms of whether an early scan is worthwhile, this will depend on the type of person you are. If you think that seeing a heartbeat at 7/8 weeks will prevent anxiety up until your 12 week scan then go for it! However, if you're the type of person that is likely to be just as anxious a few days after the scan as you were beforehand - then it's probably not worth it. If I were you and I decided to go ahead with a scan, then I would wait until 8 weeks - at that point if all is well then you have a 98% chance of the pregnancy being successful. Good luck xx

Thanks for comments everyone I appreciate it. I think if I had a scan it would make my anxiety calm down until my 12 week scan I just want everything to be okay I can't handle waiting till 12 weeks to see is everything is okay.. if I do for a private scan it would be 7 weeks and 3 days as the clinic are only open on Mondays due to what's goin on at the moment x

I had one at 6+6 (I'd actually thought I was about a week ahead of that but never mind). I'd had zero pregnancy symptoms and was convinced something was wrong but saw a lovely strong heartbeat and the reassurance for me was much needed. I was a lot more relaxed waiting for my 12 week one after that

I had a private scan at 8 weeks the weekend before lockdown and it really helped with the wait for my 12 week one especially as DH got to be there with me at the first scan but I did my 12 week one alone.

If you think it will be good for your mental health then go for it.

I had a private scan yesterday at 9wks at window to the womb. It was £90 but was honestly worth every penny. My partner could come with me and the staff were all in full ppe, it was very clean and hygienic and was also a lovely personal experience. Something you wont get with your NHS scan

I had one and don't regret it but just beware that your dates can be out in early pregnancy which could cause more anxiety if you go too early.
I was 7+5 (from LMP) when I had mine but baby only measured 6+1. There was a heartbeat but i was told if I'd gone a day or 2 earlier there probably wouldn't have been one.
I'm now 28 weeks and all was fine. Just something to be aware of.
