Hello ladies,

I'm due my second baby on 2nd November and will be having a c section again. My last one was an emergency one at 35 weeks. This one will be an elective and I heard that people have these at 39 weeks? Is this true? If so my baby will be born in October which is fine, but my son being prem I really wanted to try and go full term even though I know it's technically classed as full term at 39 weeks. Anyone had this? Is there anything that will change this, baby weight etc. I will ask all this to my doctor when I next see them. Thank you Smile

Mine was scheduled for 39+1. They do it for 39 to avoid the chance of you going into labour.

In the end mine was brought forward to 38+3 due to reduced movements. I had the steroid injections and neo were in the theatre just in case but my baby luckily was fine :)

@chloeyaj - I had the same as @thismeansnothing.

My first was an emcs and second elcs. My first was induction at 38 weeks precisely and ended in emcs as I went pre-eclamptic. Second birth was planned c-section and scheduled for 38 weeks. I wasn’t given steroids as baby was developing fine and consultant wasn’t worried about lungs or other organs. It all depends on baby and how he/she is developing, as well as mum’s health (blood pressure, existing conditions, history, proteins in urine and other situations).

38 & 39 weeks for elcs are quite normal weeks for planned c-sections tbh.

I’m booked in for 38+4 this time around and I’m not worried (beyond the normal worries a serious surgery brings). 👍🏻

Good luck 🙂
