Period-like pain

Hi,

I'm a first time mum, 36+1 weeks pregnant and over the last couple of days I've suddenly started feeling really crappy and run down. I feel nauseous and have been getting mild headaches and I just want to stay in bed all day.
I've also been having quite bad period-like pain that has been constant, not little twinges here and there, I mean literally it doesn't stop.
Along with the period-like pain I've had some muscle cramps around the very bottom of my bump but they've been all over the place (I think).
I believe I've lost a bit of my mucus plug but I have no idea.

Would you say this could be a sign that labour/early labour is going to happen soon? I'm worried about baby coming early but at the same time I just want all this pain to end.

Thank you.

Yes I would say those are all excellent signs - don't worry about the baby coming 'early' - anything from 37 weeks is term and you are not far off.
Funny question maybe but are you constipated? Wind pains can be terrible - absolute agony and I know as I had them from 38 weeks.
Everything is exacerbated by being immobile too.
Try to get moving if you can and see how you feel.
If you feel in real pain though or have reduced movements call the midwife team for advice

Thank you, I know it's not too early for baby, more worried about myself 😂
I'm definitely not constipated, a bit TMI but I've been constipated for majority of the pregnancy which was only made worse when I was put on iron tablets however the past few days have been much easier and softer..

I have a midwife appointment in a couple of days so unless anything worrying happens before then I was going to just ask her. I just thought I would see if anyone else had experienced anything similar.

I feel the same... I'm now 36+6 and have felt like this for a week. Along with lots of Braxton Hicks, lower back pain and disrupted sleep, the nausea and cramps had me thinking things were starting.

It's honestly the worst.. I feel so shit and I keep getting my hopes up that all these symptoms mean something but nothing seems to be budging yet Hmm
