Hi all :)

Currently 18 weeks with FP and don’t really have a much of a bump or feeling flutters! I’m 5’2 and only really read of taller women not showing until later! I had a fetal health scan last week and baby all ok so not worried!

Just wanted to know when you started showing with your FP?

I think I had just started showing by the time I had my 20 week scan, but it took a good few weeks longer before it looked like a proper bump and not just a bloated belly. I’m 6ft and slim. I’ve also heard it can take longer to show if you’re tall, especially if it’s your first.

YakkityYakYakYak · 15/05/2020 12:44

And I definitely couldn’t feel anything by then because I remember being amazed that she was moving around so much on 20 week scan and I couldn’t feel a thing.

dochas06 · 15/05/2020 12:45

About 15 weeks!

Jilljams · 15/05/2020 12:47

I think a lot has to do with the length of torso and also how tight the muscles there are. With twins I didn’t start showing until 18 weeks. I felt movement around the same time

Serendipper · 15/05/2020 12:49

I’m 19 weeks with my second and not showing very much. I’m only 5,4 - i think I have a proportional longer torso though and gives a bit more space for baby (like tall women have)
I didn’t show till at least 25 weeks on my first and even then it was booted pasta belly. I also didn’t feel movement until 22 weeks with 1st.

Not sure how long it will take to show this time round as my stomach muscles must be weaker from last time! I have felt movement much much earlier and can’t believe I couldn’t feel all of this before.

For reference I’m not a skinny minny either usually a 16 (so Also not big enough to hide the bump)

Daisysandviolets · 15/05/2020 12:50

I'm 20 weeks and I've only just started to show if I wear something tight and I'm a bit bloated but in normal clothes I look bloated/fat! I'm 5,2 and a size 8-10

GetTheSprinkles · 15/05/2020 12:52

Little bump at 16 weeks, definite bump at 20 weeks.
Size 8, first baby.
I think it depends on the position of your uterus. I also think I was always bloated which added to the bump!

ParkheadParadise · 15/05/2020 12:53

I didn't even know I was pregnant with dd2 at 5 months. I never really had a massive bump. Towards the end of my pregnancy I actually lost weight.

biscuit13 · 15/05/2020 12:54

I'm a size 8, 5ft 3, and 15 weeks and I've been showing since about 12weeks not noticeably though, only without a top on. But now my tummy is starting to push my tshirt out a bit, but its not a proper bump yet, I just look like I've got a bit tubby. I do feel bigger than I should be though. Haha

Alychloe · 15/05/2020 13:02

@Daisysandviolets you are pretty much the same size height as me haha - I am the same I just feel bloated and most of the day my stomach from underneath my boobs to bottom of pubic line is the same size haha! No dips or anything just pure bloat!

@GetTheSprinkles I think my uterus is hiding right at the back haha

With my first I was around 20weeks when I developed a noticeable bump.

sel2223 · 15/05/2020 13:47

I'm quite tall and had a definite bump by 16 weeks....didn't feel any flutters till over 22 weeks though

Bienentrinkwasser · 15/05/2020 13:49

First time I don’t think it as obvious until about 24 weeks. This time I’m enormous at 15 weeks. I’m 5’6 with a proportionally short torso, usually a size 10 but quite athletic. I even had pretty defined abdominal muscles before this pregnancy but they’ve abandoned me 😂

MichelleOR84 · 15/05/2020 13:56

I’m 5”4 . I started properly showing between 20-24 weeks I would say . Before that ( from 14 weeks on) I just looked like I had gained weight . My bmi is a tiny bit above healthy though so my tummy wasn’t flat to begin with .

Now I’m 13 weeks pregnant with baby number two and already look properly pregnant 😬

Margo34 · 15/05/2020 13:59

Around 15 weeks for me - looked like I'd just eaten a big lunch until about then, can't miss it as a proper bump now though!
5'6" and size 8. Felt my first baby flutters around 16/17 weeks, DH started to feel baby kick at just under 20w too! Now he can't keep his hands off the bump though 😂
21 weeks tomorrow - FTM also!

Luckyme30 · 15/05/2020 15:00

I’m 16 weeks and 5 ft 2, I wouldn’t say I was showing yet just maybe my tummy feels a little bit more firm but can still (just) fit into my jeans, although have to undo the zip slightly :p

Seventytwoseventythree · 15/05/2020 15:02

It was almost exactly 20 weeks but it stayed very small and neat until 28 weeks and people didn’t always notice. Then it suddenly got very obvious - I’m 36 weeks now and feeling huge!

Prettylittlelady · 15/05/2020 15:38

I’m currently 18+2 with my first pregnancy and have a noticeable bump. It’s not that big though but people have commented. It started showing around 2 weeks ago. I think it’s started to feel some flutters but really can’t be sure at all!

Frazzlerock · 15/05/2020 15:44

I'm 5 ft 4 (and half) and I am almost 12 weeks pregnant and showing now. I'm in my mat jeans as of this week, but this is my 7th pregnancy (on 2 have survived so far) so maybe my tummy muscles aren't as good as they could be.
I normally have a flat tummy when not pregnant. I have a short waist so I'm assuming I'm showing because of that.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 15/05/2020 15:44

I'm 5"8, this is my second child and started showing at about 12 weeks

Foodie28 · 15/05/2020 15:52

I didn't start showing with my first until I was 22 weeks although I felt plenty of movements , I'm now expecting my second and already got a small round bump at 15 weeks!!

It's true what people say though, you'll go to bed one night and wake up with a proper bump! Smile

Foodie28 · 15/05/2020 15:53

Oh and I'm 5'2 aswell !

crazychemist · 15/05/2020 15:54

I’m your height, and I’d say roughly your build, maybe a little heavier but I’m not sure. With DD1 my bump looked quite similar to yours at 18 weeks, so not at all noticeable with clothes. It started to get much more noticeable once I was past 20 weeks, but I never had a particularly huge bump right up until 34 weeks (when I suddenly felt VAST).

Only 10 weeks with DC2, so no bump yet, but I have had some very bloated days, which was at its worst at 5 weeks - bizarrely I was so swollen I actually looked like I had a bump them! Quite relieve when that passed,
