Hi guys, had a scan today @14+5 as toddler bumped abdomen pretty hard and I’m A negative so needed anti d! Baby fine and measuring correctly just wondered if anyone had any idea? It may not be the best position, student I had in scan actually said “he” but could have been none specific! Thanks Smile

It's impossible to tell the gender of a child before it's born. The child itself may not even decide what it's gender for several years, maybe into adulthood, and may change it's mind many times.

If you're asking us to guess the sex however, I'd say a boy*

*I actually have no idea, but I'm going to keep correcting posters who ask us to guess the gender of an unborn baby until I die, or I'm banned from MN, whichever comes first.

Doh! s, not it's Blush

MrsJoshNavidi · 15/05/2020 11:13

FFS! its, not it's.

BiscuitLover3679 · 15/05/2020 11:13

Haha yes op, it's sex not gender. Gender is a cultural thing. However I am also saying boy.

Thanks for your replies.. apologies to anyone offended by my use of the term gender I had no idea it was an issue! We call it a gender scan where I am from so I didn’t think to put anything else. Sonographer also referred to it as gender today when confirming it wouldn’t be discussed until 20 weeks. Thanks though!

Not offended, just fed up of the NHS people trying to be politically correct, but scientifically wrong.

Sorry you got the brunt of my fed-up-ness OP, but it gets my goat!

ElectricTonight · 15/05/2020 11:52

Ffs.

It's called a gender scan where I am from too, If it was that big of an issue perhaps they should change the name.

Congratulations OP, I'm going with a baby boy !

TenThousandSpoons0 · 15/05/2020 11:56

Cute pic but I don’t think the sex is clearly visible on that picture. Also - completely discount the student saying “he”, a student probably wouldnt have been able to tell at 14 weeks either!

Zara1234uk · 15/05/2020 14:57

Yeah didn’t think it was the best photo thanks for your replies x

It IS that big of an issue, and they SHOULD change the name.
