Hi ladies, My hayfever has really kicked up this week. Sneezing, runny nose, headaches... Any advice on what you guys take? I've tried the old vaseline around the nostrils (very attractive) but did nothing to prevent it.

Hi, I was told by my midwife if it's really bad I can take Piriton :)

But if in doubt, I would just follow the NHS guidelines on anything pregnancy related

You can't take antihistamines in your first trimester but you're safe to do so from your second.
I suffered terribly so when my consultant told me I could start taking my tablets again I was over the moon. You can use nasal sprays too, but you might want to check with the pharmacist as to which ones you can use.

It's worth speaking to your GP. There's lots you can take but I think some of it depends how far along you are. I was prescribed a steroid nasal spray (3rd trimester).

ceririzine or loratadine are fine throughout pregnancy. those you can buy in any supermarket off the shelf.
if that foesn't work for you your gp can prescribe a steroid nasal spray.

Thanks ladies. I'm only in my first trimester still, so might give the gp a call if I can't stand it any more.

In my second pregnancy, doc prescribed me chlorphenamine for my bad hay fever. Doctor said it was fine to take, although it's a drowsy one.

I took citirizine throughout my first trimester (and second and still taking it every day at 35 weeks now) and was told it was fine to take by my doctor and consultant, I take for severe allergies including hayfever x
