Hi ladies, I'm so embarrassed and ashamed but I cant stop wanting to vape. I was on 16mg of nicotine and I've got down to 6mg in 3 days but the fact it's something I've done for so long it's hard to shake off. I'm currently 4 weeks 1 day pregnant and I really want to stop but the urge is strong. Also I'm furloughed from work currently so I dont have as much things to do. Any advice on tricks to stop ect? Thank you x

Hey,

I don't have any tips for you unfortunately but I'm 35 weeks and have been vaping (3mg) throughout my pregnancy. Not ideal but I don't personally think it's the end of the world.

If you want to stop completely, try chewing gum (doesn't have to be nicotine stuff) a strong one, like airwaves might help take your mind off it.

I was using my vape until about 20 weeks, my partner got rushed into hospital with collapsed lung at 32 so it pretty much shocked us both to stop. As long as it's not a massive mg I'm sure it wouldn't affect to much. Good luck

Having the same problem! I'm 4 weeks and on 3mg but finding it so hard to quit :( I know it's not good but at the same time stress of quitting can be bad and my mum smoked with me 😂 (not advised!) Trying to limit my feelings of guilt

I still vape, admittedly I'm on 0mg down from 6mg but when I spoke to my midwife about it she said its absolutely fine to vape and I'm marked down on my notes as a non smoker ( I did find this strange) however even after speaking to a consultant they too agreed it was absolutely fine to vape xxx

Brilliant that you’ve managed to cut down so much. Definitely try and keep reducing if you can. xx

I was still a smoker at the start of my pregnancy - immediately cut down to one/two a day and managed to stop completely by 8 weeks. I’m now 29 weeks and a non smoker 🤗

Although caping is almost certainly safer than smoking, it’s not been around long enough to know the effects so you are still better off quitting. It’s certainly not good for the baby!

Don’t beat yourself up, even if it takes you a few weeks it’s better late than never. You’ve already done so well cutting down the mgs- keep going!

I'm still vaping on 3mg have been on low dose for ages now, just cant kick the crutch of having it and terrified of going back to smoking after 3.5 years.

Midwife knows I vape and put me down as non smoker and said that it's fine. I know it would be better to not so it at all... but I'm also not being too hard on myself. Pregnancy ontop of covid is bad enough without taking that away too
