Frimley Hospital vs Royal Surrey

Morning all,

I've just recently found out I am pregnant with my first child. I had my first GP call today where they said I needed to decide on a hospital for birth - Frimley or Royal Surrey.

Are there any Mums on here that have given birth in either hospital that could share their views?

This being my first pregnancy, I have no experience of maternity units!

Thank you.
Lucy

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I wouldn't recommend parking at Waitrose and walking, as they now have someone patrolling the car park and checking everyone is a customer, they take photos of the number plate and they have a time limit. If you are going in for a scan, you may find the wait quite long too.
I had both my DCs at FPH, very different births, one very long labour with a few complications and one very quick labour where I barely made it to the labour ward. Can't say enough good things about the team there. They all do such a great job. I often think how lucky we are to have such a good local hospital.

Hi OP
I'm 4 day post birth had my daughter on Wednesday at Frimley.

I have nothing but glowing comments for the staff, we had "planned" a midwife led delivery however little one was breech at my 38 week appointment so they tried an ECV and decided it was safer for us both to have a C section the next day!

Amazing care at Frimley by the midwives and consultants during what was a worrying time.

I've had a wonderful experience with Frimley

Also a little wave 👋 to all the mums local to Frimley who have recently had babies. Hope you are all well.

@kittlesticks oh thank you for letting me know! I'll just have to leave plenty of time for parking I think. Glad you had another good experience at Frimley!

@Lpeach1 thank you. We really really did given things changed personally and obviously with COVID it has been a brilliant experience. We never had an issue with parking either.

TildaTurnip · 17/05/2020 17:14

I imagine parking right now is a lot less of an issue than usually. It has taken me an hour to queue to get in before and given my first Labour from beginning to end was well under an hour I could consider it Grin

MissHoney85 · 27/05/2020 09:10

@Lpeach1 did you self refer to Frimley Park in the end? I did the form online about 10 days ago but haven't heard anything yet. Not sure if I should chase them up or just be patient.

Lpeach1 · 27/05/2020 09:49

@MissHoney85 yes I self referred online. I got a call to arrange the booking appointment a week later. I remember it said they would contact within 10 days so I would get in touch with them if I were you - just in case something went wrong online. Hope you're getting on okay. My symptoms are only just starting to kick in now!

@Lpeach1thanks, I will chase them up! Still no massively obvious symptoms here but enough to keep me slightly reassured. I caved and booked a private scan for Saturday when I should be 7 weeks, so just counting down to that really. Time goes so slowly!

Lpeach1 · 27/05/2020 10:05

@MissHoney85 I was thinking about a private scan but I'm going to try and wait. Hope all goes well and good luck chasing up your appointment Smile

When are you due...I am 37 weeks today. .waheyyyy

GingerScallop · 28/12/2020 16:51

Have had two on private at Royal Surrey. They were fantastic such that though both were emergency they felt like meeting friends at a pub and coming back with a baby. Post natal care was brilliant too

Which consultant did you have?
