Feeling low while pregnant during Covid

Anybody else suffering with low mood and pregnant during lockdown/ covid 19?

I had been been fairly positive up until this week. I'm 17+4 and have been enjoying pregnancy and I still am, thrilled we're expecting our baby boy. However I am so low and feeling super stressed and anxious? I don't know if it's suddenly taken it's toll after being so positive for so long.

I am struggling to work from home and have told work I need some time to myself as being on a laptop all day in our apartment is getting me down also.

I am worried that may taking some time to myself and being off work will make me look pathetic? I'm trying all the self help things and hope if I carry on it will help.

Shall I contact my midwife or GP? I am so happy and blessed to be pregnant but these times have finally chipped away at me and I am feeling down.

Thanks for listening, I hate to be a moaner! 💙

I definitely think it's a good idea to speak to someone about how you're feeling. I've struggled with anxiety and low mood in this pregnancy and was referred to the perinatal mental health team who have been extremely supportive.

Hi,
You're definitely not alone! I'm also really really struggling. It's a hard time to be pregnant!

It sounds silly but the thing I've found help me mentally over the last week or so is colouring! I bought an adults colouring by numbers and it's become a really therapeutic way of distracting and relaxing my mind.

I think I'm finding it hard not to be with my family, and do the things I was so looking forward too like baby shopping. Mine is an IVF pregnancy that's been a 10 year wait and it makes me sad not to be able to get excited with my family!

And don't even get me started on working from home! I hate it ... it's overwhelming, isolating and lonely!

Sorry for the ramble, but know you're not alone! I keep telling myself "I got this!" xxx

@Mp0304 we’re the same way along our pregnancies! Sorry to hear you’re feeling down. It’s a weird time and there’s no ‘right’ way to feel. Good advice to speak to your midwife if you feel this way.

I’m feeling miserable this week, but I think it’s a combination of being fed up of having to be at home (I know it’s the right thing, and I’m taking it seriously) and knowing it’s still likely to be months before I can see my family. In those circumstances, it’s no wonder I feel glum, so I’m allowing myself the indulgence of a sulk! Hope you feel better soon.
