9 weeks pregnant, when will I hear from midwife?

Hi all,

I'm 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby but haven't heard anything from midwife/doctor or anything about a scan date yet.

I filled in a form at about 6 weeks and gave this back to my doctor's surgery but haven't heard anything since.

My other half thinks we should have heard something by now so I just wondered if this is normal or whether I should give my surgery a call and find out what's going on?

I know midwives are super busy at the moment and under a lot of pressure so just wondered if there are delays and I've got to be patient?

Thanks

I'd call the surgery and follow up. You need a booking in appointment with a midwife even if thats just over the phone, so that you don't get lost in the system.

Good luck!

I had to do a lot of chasing before I heard anything. I would definitely follow up.

Chase it up - they might just be that slow, but they also might have lost the form. My trust do online referral: I was called within 2 days with a booking appointment date and the scan was booked at the booking appointment (letter about 3 days later).
BUT I have had a couple of admin issues where my blood test appointment was lost which meant I waited 40 minutes at the clinic and then they mis-labelled the bloods so I had to go back anyway. The midwives did say that things are a bit messed up and they're having to contend with new systems.
Always worth a polite telephone call :-)

You should have a booking over phone any day now. Scan will be around 12 weeks. We are not physically seeing anyone until 28 weeks atm, only phone call appointments.
It is a bit crazy currently but if you don’t hear anything this week then chase it. We normally book 9/10 weeks. Good luck with your pregnancy

It was 4 weeks after my initial referral that I heard anything back! I could never get through and there isn't an answer phone facility. When I finally got through they were very apologetic and phoned back the very next day to book me in. Apparently that was when my scheduled appointment was supposed to be and they had sent a letter, but I never received it. I'm thinking I was probably forgotten about and squeezed in!

I would chase it up. I didn't hear anything about my booking in appt till about 8 weeks then the appt was between 9 and 10 weeks.

As for the scan, I didn't get a letter for that appt till I was over 12 weeks and the scan itself was when I was 13+6 (and this was pre Covid)
