Scan too early - what will you see?

Looking for advice please. My partner and I are unsure how pregnant I don't know the last day of my pregnancy. We wanted to book a private 12 week scan so we can see the baby for the first time together. We are worried about me being earlier in my pregnancy then 12 weeks. Will we see much or is it worth waiting? I reckon I will be earliest 8 weeks but honestly not completely sure.

Thank you

At 8 weeks you should see a heart beat.

At 10 weeks it will look like a baby. Early than that more like prawn with a heartbeat.

8 weeks your baby will still look vaguely baby shaped but without limbs yet... heart beat etc though so not TOO early. Less than 6 weeks can be worrying as often no foetus can be seen.

If possible just try to make sure you aren’t less than 7-8 weeks or so. At that stage you’ll see a clear heartbeat which is awesome, and beyond that you’ll start to see little limbs, identifiable little head, tummy etc. before around 7 weeks you risk creating lots of anxiety because you may not see a heartbeat - can be a very stressful wait if you do that!! Hi OP, are you in the UK? Are you not getting an NHS dating scan around 12 weeks?
