PUPP anyone?

Has anyone suffered with pupp in pregnancy? If you have could you tell me your experiences of how it started, what rash was like, where it was etc?

I'm itchy. So so itchy on my legs and ankles and a little on my arms but that's it. I've seen pupp usually starts on belly and around stretch marks? I don't have itching on belly or any stretch marks. But there's now a slight rash, don't know wether that's been brought on from all the itching.

Anything I can compare to would be amazing! I really don't want to ring midwives and tell them I've got itchy legs 😂

Hi @Byets how many weeks are you?

I have severe stretch marks and itchy bumps on belly which they believe to be PUPP... but I also have extreme itchiness on arms and legs (that leaves no rash just clawed mark's from my nails) it's worst at night!

Apparently it could be cholestasis, so I wouldn't feel daft messaging midwife. It's best to be safe! She may ask you to call dr and get a liver function test done! Apparently it can happen during pregnancy and may not harm you (apart from the awful itchiness) but could harm baby.

Deffo get it checked out!

@MisssC3025 thank you for your reply 😊 I'm 28+5, how about you?

Ah god bless you so you've got the arms and legs and belly!! How annoying😩 are they doing tests for Cholestasis on you? Xx

Hey I have Puppp on and off, I was tested for the liver function problem but that came back normal so they think it’s puppp. It basically caused a rash like this over my stomach and thighs and bum and chest: was very annoying and itchy so could be this?

Byets · 12/05/2020 11:51

@Catlover10 thank you for replying! Oh god that looks really itchy!! Does the rash come and go along with the itching?

When they diagnosed you with this did they say anything about it having to be on your bump for it to be puppp? Also is there anything they have/can do for it?

Sorry for all the questions Im just wanting some info because I've still got 11 weeks to go and god I couldn't imagine having to itch like this for another 11 weeks 😂

Hey! I'm 37 weeks and got my results back for liver test today and it came up high! Got a call from consultant and apparently it's high but at a normal range for pregnancy (whatever that means) so I just need to take piriton. If I continue itching throughout next week then I need to call my day unit and get re tested.

So if I were you I'd get it checked for piece of mind xxx

@MisssC3025 ahhh no! So everyone's levels must go up slightly in pregnancy then if it's high but normal for pregnancy! Hopefully it dies down and you don't have to get tested again and it's not that 💐

I have a blood test at my doctors tomorrow morning so we'll soon find out 😊

@Byets possibly!! A few of my pregnant friends don't have this so maybe for some it's higher etc who knows! It's a bugger! I've just had a cold shower, rubbed e45 everywhere and had a piriton hopefully I get a better sleep tonight, because last night my DP told me I was scratching so badly in my sleep! He tried stopping me but I just wouldn't stop and I've woken up with sore scratches all over my legs!

I hope you get more clarity after your blood test ! Keep me posted xx

Yeah I've got two really itchy painful pupp patches on my tummy that I have to resist not to scratch, my midwife advised using sudacrem. I don't seem to have any visible stretch marks yet so was concerned they were an allergic reaction to bug bites at first. I'm 38+5
