Ok, I’m 37 weeks pregnant today and at roughly 2.20am I went to the toilet and saw what looked like my mucus plug after wiping but I’m unsure wether it was.. could you girls tell me if it is? Also if it is how long does labour usually start after?

Doesn't look like it tbh. X

Pippinsqueak · 12/05/2020 03:34

mine was very different, that looks a bit like normal discharge

sarahc336 · 12/05/2020 06:26

No don't think so, my mucus plug cane out a bit more bloody/streaky that just looks like normal pregnancy discharge to me xx

BelfastNonBlonde · 12/05/2020 07:39

I think it can come out gradually in bits - so it could be starting to break down - but wouldn’t say that was it completely.
Give it some more time before you get excited!

FrankieKnuckles · 12/05/2020 07:43

That's not it. It's literally like a lump of red/brown stained jelly. You'll know when you get it 🤞🏼

MichelleOR84 · 12/05/2020 09:19

Mine came out like at 37+1 - no blood, completely clear . It looked a blob of snot maybe the size of a golf ball for reference

It was obvious to me though ( probably because my waters broke shortly before 😝)

Yours doesn’t look significant enough in the picture compared to mine . It looks like regular discharge .

Harriett123 · 12/05/2020 09:25

It can break down in bits so it might be part of it. The other thing is it can also regrow. Mine came out a number of times from 36 weeks and started getting a blood show in my 39th week. I went over and was induced at 41 + 5.
I rang the midwives about it and they said that a show on it's own means nothing simply that your body is preparing for labour and that could happen in days or weeks.
Good luck and hope baba arrives in time and you dont end up in the same situation as me. Flowers

Hi OP

Mucus plug can actually come out gradually over several days or a week and it isn’t actually always jelly like/red!

You may not even notice some of it - common with the “rush and flush” women (not my terminology 😂)

Just keep an eye on it and call it concerned but like others have said it’s just the wheels starting to turn! You may not to into labour for a bit x

Hi all,

Sorry to jump on the bandwagon and for the TMI photo but I'm 40+1 and had a sweep yesterday and then a couple of lots of this when I wipe today. Would it be the mucus plug? Desperate to get things moving but haven't felt much yet. Thanks

Oh ladies, I have a blog post all about this if you want to learn more! just-keep-pushing.blogspot.com/2020/06/losing-your-mucus-plug-what-does-this.html

Although I must say, @firsttimemama6 that looks EXACTLY like what I was trying to describe in my blog post! xx

firsttimemama6 · 11/06/2020 15:15

Thanks very much Hannahpaige, that's really helpful and reassuring. Hopefully it means things are going to start soon Smile
