’m just wondering when everyone has been having their “12 week scan”.
I’m due to receive mine in the post (currently at 9weeks) following my telephone booking appointment with midwife, and have been told it can be between 10-14 weeks.
I’m quite anxious as I haven’t been getting many “pregnancy symptoms” so keen to find out if everything is ok in the scan.
I’m therefore hoping it will be sooner rather than later.
Also expecting there to be longer waits due to COVID-19
At how many weeks has everyone else been getting their scans?
Thanks

i have mine next week when i will be 12 weeks. i went for a private one this week though so my partner could meet the baby at the same time as i did xx

Mine was at 13+1 but I was out on my dates so I thought I was only 12+5 weeks. Had a private early scan just before lockdown.

Thanks - I'm wondering if a private scan might be an option just to keep my mind at rest (if all goes well) and so husband can attend

I just had mine, I was 12 weeks and about 5 days. But I'm in a fairly rural area and the tiny local hospital has mostly closed down and I saw about 5 other patients the whole time I was there. When I walked in there was one person in the entire ultrasound department and I think she was waiting solely for me, my appointment was over before it was even due to start as I was ushered in as soon as I arrived. I'm assuming they are quiet because most ultrasound appointments outside of maternity care will have been cancelled.

If I were still living in the area I had my first then I'd expect there to be delays as I'd be going to a much bigger and busier hospital.

Had mine last wk- 13+4, quick and efficient, no issues with the scan.
The bloods the week before were a farce, sent to the wrong place, they switched the location without telling me- still haven’t received my pregnancy “pack” they were sending out to me for a second time.

Mine is early June at 12+3 😊 got my letter in the post about a week after my telephone booking appt

sel2223 · 11/05/2020 11:33

Mine was pre-Covid and not till 13+6.

It was a long wait to start with but then a shorter wait between that one and the anomaly scan at 20 weeks so it's swings and roundabouts really.

Foreverblowingbubbles18 · 11/05/2020 12:12

I had mine last week when, going by my LMP I was dating 13+3 but when they scanned I was actually 12+2, I think they try and do it past 12 weeks to ensure the baby has grown enough for them to get the correct measurements.

Newmummyxx · 11/05/2020 12:14

I’m still waiting for my scan date, I had my booking in appointment by phone at 10 weeks and I’m 12 weeks today. I think I might try and get in contact with the hospital in a few days. I’ve also had a private scan at 10 weeks, definitely worth the money for reassurance and so that my partner could come along too.

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 11/05/2020 12:14

Mine is next week and I'll be 12+5 by my estimate.

Newmummyxx · 11/05/2020 12:17

@AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea Did you get a letter to tell you your appointment date? I’m Interested to see how long people are waiting to receive them.

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 11/05/2020 12:20

@Newmummyxx I phoned self referral at 5 weeks pregnant and they made my booking appointment and scan appointment over the phone, then they followed up with letters. I'm in Scotland, I think there's different processes everywhere.

sel2223 · 11/05/2020 12:20

@Newmummyxx I didn't get my letter with scan date till I was about 12+4 then scan was 9 days later at 13+6. I did ring up but was basically told to just be patient and wait for the letter.

That was at the beginning of the year.

Newmummyxx · 11/05/2020 12:32

@AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea Thanks, yeh I thought it would be slightly different in different areas.

Newmummyxx · 11/05/2020 12:33

@sel2223 Thank you, hopefully I’ll receive it by the end of this week.

DMAD1 · 11/05/2020 12:36

Hi, new here and 1st time pregnant. Just wondering how people decided if they should go private or semi private in Dublin maternity hospitals - is there a thread on it (I cant find it - sorry).
If you go semi private - is the consultants costs still the same?

Newmummyxx · 11/05/2020 15:29

My scan letter ended up arriving today so I’ll be 13+1, my appointment is next Tuesday.

Birry · 11/05/2020 16:23

I had my booking appointment 3 weeks ago and only received my appointment letter today. I will be 13 weeks exactly.

Coopsy92 · 11/05/2020 16:44

My husband works in a hospital, they are actually much quieter than usual at the moment! I had my scan last Thursday (measured at 13 weeks, thought I was 12+2). I did have a private scan right at the start of lockdown when I was 7 weeks but they've since changed the rules there too so you have to go on your own I think even to those ones now.

cfgordo · 11/05/2020 17:29

Having mine on Thursday- thought I would be 12+4 but had a private scan a couple of weeks ago so that my husband could be there and they measured me slightly behind so think I will be 11+2!

sel2223 · 11/05/2020 17:37

@cfgordo I had that too after a private scan measured me 11 days behind LMP.
I'd caught up by a week when I had my dating scan and am now 26+4 and right where I should be going by the dating scan measurements.
As long as your baby measures between 11 and 14 weeks it's fine for the screening tests, NT measurements etc.

cfgordo · 11/05/2020 17:40

@sel2223 Thanks, that’s helpful to know. Maybe I’ll catch up!

Emeraude · 12/05/2020 20:09

15-16 weeks here! Having to pay for NIPT instead.
