I'm a big eater OP, and I've reduced my food intake to around 1200 cals a day just because I genuinely don't feel like eating most of the time. Mouth feels quite dry and I feel nauseous most of the day. I wanna eat but struggle.

Natalie654321 · 10/05/2020 21:57

I was the exact same. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and only recently got my appetite back... But now can't stop eating!!! Hopefully it will just last a few more weeks then yoh will be back to normal :)

Is it ok to not eat much?? What's good to eat when you don't feel like it?

Shanlou12 · 10/05/2020 22:44

Hopefully I do remember feeling like this with my first (didn’t know I was PG at the time though) ha
Sometimes I force myself to eat something!
@Violetlilac I know we should eat but from past experience and things Iv read on here as long as your drinking it’s not too much of an issue and just eat whatever you fancy for now even if it’s not the most healthy thing in the world something is better than nothing 😊

Mini cheddars are amazing for me as a little snack if I feel like I haven’t really eaten much they go down quite nicely :)

Me, I've gone off most stuff! I've had the most bland and beige diet for the past few weeks and could only face small amounts. Currently 13 weeks and feeling like I can eat a bit more the past couple of days and starting to actually want to eat again. Stick with small meals with regular snacks if you can. I managed fruit smoothies and ready salted crisps if nothing else!

sel2223 · 11/05/2020 08:46

Don't worry, it'll come back with a vengeance in the second trimester.

I had awful sickness and couldn't face much food or keep much down at the beginning. I was basically living on salt and vinegar crisps or tiny bites of fruit.
I was worried baby wasn't getting nutrients so took pregnancy supplements but had a hard time keeping them down.
My midwife told me it's normal and not to worry too much. The main thing is trying to drink plenty so you don't get dehydrated, that's the most important thing. Food wise, don't overthink it, just have whatever you can manage.

My appetite came back with a bang around 15 weeks and I was constantly starving and wanting to eat everything in sight!
Now 26+4 and I'm still hungry all the time but can't manage as much as I guess there's not as much room in there.

Mine comes and goes - I'm trying to eat some thing small every couple of hours to keep the nausea at bay. I haven't fancied anything sweet for weeks - my OH is outraged because I've still got an Easter Egg in the cupboard.

MissHoney85 · 11/05/2020 09:53

I'm only 4 +4 but I'm significantly less interested in food than usual. Not nauseous but I'd usually be thinking about food for a good proportion of each day, especially sweet stuff, but I'm just not really interested at the moment. I don't know if that's just anxiety though.

Violetlilac · 11/05/2020 19:59

@MissHoney85 totally relate!! I'm not even there and I'm struggling but I think it's more anxiety at the moment. It's so hard to push through.

I've managed to have a yoghurt, an apple, and some cucumber. Just had some super noodles which feels like a big win!

I am so worried that the baby will be hurt. Are you sure it's ok to just eat when you can and keep drinking??

MissHoney85 · 11/05/2020 20:44

@Violetlilac I'm sure you don't need to worry about the baby, at this stage it's not even getting any nutrition from you. Just stay hydrated and eat when / what you fancy.
