Dating scan at 14 weeks

I have my NHS dating scan this Friday at 13+3 weeks , however I had a private scan at 10 weeks pregnant and I’m measuring ahead . I kinda knew this already as a ovulate early .

According to my private scan and when I ovulated I should be at least 14 weeks pregnant , possibly a day or two ahead of that even.

Has anyone had a dating scan at 14 weeks? Were you able to get all the regular checks done , specifically the checks for Down syndrome ?!

The sonogropher will date your scan as well and most likely come to the same conclusion, as to you being nearly 14 weeks.
The Down syndrome test etc, are done with blood tests combined with the fluid check at the back of the neck (sorry if I'm telling you to suck eggs!) so they can don these checks regardless that you are further ahead than what you thought you were.
Hope it all goes well for you! 🥰🥰🥰

To have the combined test for the three main trisomies (Down, Edward and Patau) you'd need to have the scan before 14 weeks (or at 14 weeks at a push I think, I'm not certain of cut off)

After that point it is too late to accurately measure the nuchal translucency, but you could have the quad blood test instead.

I had mine at exactly 14 weeks as I found out I was PG at around 13 weeks. they were able to do the combined test (just if I had been a day later the baby would have been too big) 😊

I went to my date scan believing I was 12 + 6 weeks but had my due date bought forward to 13 + 6 weeks. It was all ok though and they were able to run do the checks for Down's Syndrome etc.

Hi - the cutoff for doing the NT is baby measuring 85mm. That corresponds to 14 weeks and 2 days (roughly speaking). Beyond that, they won’t be able to measure NT and use it for combined screening - so you’d most likely need todo the second trimester screening instead. It’s not quite as reliable as first trimester screening.
If you think you’ll definitely be past 14+2 based on your dates from the 10 week scan, I’d try to give them a call and see if they can squeeze you in earlier in the week.
X

I was the same - I gave them a ring and explained and they brought the 12-week scan forward. I'd give that a go!

I thought about bringing it forward but in the letter they sent out with my date they emphasised how busy they are and changing dates are only in emergencies. And I feel like everyone is short staff right now anyway and I feel bad bothering when it’s really not an emergency at all 😔

I should be 14 weeks exactly but I’m worried I’m further ahead because with my first born I also had an early scan at 10 weeks. He ended up measuring ahead as well and then 2 weeks later at my dating scan he was showing being ahead another couple days on top of that , which makes me think that could happen again .

I have been told the screening just be done between 11-14 weeks for them to be able to tell you sorry OP

Must*

Good news !! My scan went well today and I’m only measuring 13+4 😅!!! Although she really struggled to get measurements and I had to shake my body a few times to get baby into a half decent position !

My first baby came 3 weeks early so I don’t take due dates that seriously!

I’m still waiting on my blood work but scan looked good so I’m feeling relieved 😌

Glad it went well and you could have the necessary tests done x

Pleased your scan went well OP, I was just coming on to say I was 13+6 at mine and still managed to have the screening tests.
I also had a private scan and that measured me a week different to my NHS one.
