Hi,

First time mum here so googling the hell out of everything 🤷🏽‍♀️

We have a joie 360 isofix spin for our car, however we would also like a car seat for partners van which is a newer transit (and also to use this for the grandparents as well)

The van doesn't have an isofix so looking for any recommendations for a car seat you have bought for this purpose

Thank you 🥰

Em does the transit van have two rows of seats then? You are not really supposed to have young babies in a front seat even if they are rear facing. There are some seats that can be used with isofix base and also belted instead which could be used but I’m hesitant to recommend without pointing out. What age is your baby?

My husband has a VW transporter. Hard to find a suitable cad seat as his front seat is a bench and no isofix. We happily turned off the airbag and used an infant carrier strapped in with the seat belt to begin with, then we have been using a Joie Stages, again seat belted in. The stages is a good rear facing option as it doesn't need to rest on a seat in front and isn't isofix. If he finds the seat belts are short there is also a shortbelt method (Google it!). I'm not sure if the stages can be used from newborn, you should be able to belt your infant carrier in though.

@Maincat thanks so much for your help, so did you use this from newborn? Its not like he will need to go anywhere straight away in the van when we have a car with another car seat its just if he needed to be transported anywhere with his dad in the van if i was away with the car etc if you get me.

His van is the same its just the two seats in the front, so did you just put your baby the same way as you would a normal car seat as if it the baby was in the car? Xx

We used a regular newborn carrier until my son was about a year, that went into the van just fine. It's vital that the passenger front airbags are switched off - otherwise the airbag could kill if it inflated in a crash. The newborn carrier just strapped in the same way it would in any seat. The Joie Stages also seatbelts in the same way to any seat in a car or van - again, the airbag must be switched off. We didn't use the Joie until about a year, so I don't know if it can be used from newborn. I think newborn carriers are the safest way to transport a newborn, regardless of vehicle, they also have the bonus of clipping onto a pram and being easily moved between cars. You could start with one and then get a stages a bit later on x

Yeah there is no airbag in the passenger seat anyway we checked this to start off with... we have the joie isofix 360 spin for the car but obv can't use that for other cars or the van as its not for carrying the baby around only for transport purposes.

We will get a normal car seat as in the other joie one we seen which you just use the seat belt like you said and use this in the van thanks for your help xx
