Can you sleep on your right side too or is it just left side Confused I slept on with my 1st but reading things on here people saying only left? So slightly confused now

Left is best for blood flow but right is better than your back.

Shanlou12 · 08/05/2020 13:56

Jeez my hips hurt enough from going side to side I can’t imagine sleeping in my left alllll night Shock

Just go with what works, for me it’s sleep! I end up in all positions (wake often) it’s just when you are bigger and on your back it isn’t good but still sometimes I will end up there.

Yea I will thanks :) my hips and legs get so sore from lying in my side I have to swap sides (I normally sleep on my front or back)

@Shanlou12 I'm finding the same! I usually sleep on front/back too but trying to sleep on sides and finding it hard to get to/ stay sleep and waking up with sore hips and legs. I was thinking maybe a pregnancy pillow might help Confused

Also find myself waking up and sleeping on my back

Shanlou12 · 09/05/2020 07:59

@New2020 I know horrible isn’t it my hips are really hurting from sleeping on sides 😔 I thought the same maybe pillow may help

I've found a full body pregnancy pillow helps... but not much. I still wake up multiple times during the night with aching hips and have to switch sides (not as easy as it sounds at 35 weeks). I'm usually a back sleeper so it's been a struggle sleeping on my sides but the earlier you get into the habit, the quicker you get used to it. I still wake on my back a lot but as soon as I do I turn over.

I’m looking to purchase one soon! I’m only 7+d and already trying to get into the habit as my belly is already showing and I’m a back/front sleeper so going to take me a while to get used to I think 😔

I am a belly sleeper and during my first pregnancy I slept on my tummy until bump made it too big to do so, until probs about 20 weeks ish or so? Then when side sleeping hurt (coccyx used to click and clunk every time I'd turn over, oh the joys) I would sleep with a normal pillow between my legs. I think hey don't recommend back sleeping when you're really heavily pregnant as there is the chance of recycling blood flow through a main artery. But honestly I used to wake up loads on my back then just roll over again! Point being lo was absolutely fine. Try not to stress about it too much ☺🤗

wannabebump · 09/05/2020 09:09

I've been trying to avoid sleeping on my back now for what feels like ages to get me into the habit but I'm a natural back sleeper and really struggling. A normal pillow behind my back isn't cutting it so looking at a maternity pillow to try and help. I go between my left and right side so thinking one of the long ones would be better than one that's just at one side

Banaaaaaanarama1 · 09/05/2020 09:10

Reducing not recycling 🤪

Shanlou12 · 09/05/2020 09:11

Thanks guys! Yea think I may have to purchase one in near future! I’m a bit sceptical of purchasing anything until I pass the 12 week mark!!
