Sleeping on left side

Anyone else having trouble doing this? I am trying but invariably end up on my back which is meant to be the worst position 🙈 I find left side very uncomfortable. Only 14 weeks but have read so much about sleep positions already!

Read ‘Expecting Better’ or the writers blog, I think there is new research on this.

Yes! I hate sleeping on my left side! I bought a big pillow but I'm still not comfy unless on my right side or back, it really stresses me out xx

I don't think you need to worry yet if you do end up sleeping on back.
But the only way I've managed to stay on my side the majority of the night was to sleep inside a big pregnancy pillow as it stops me from rolling back.
I'd definitely recommend one. There a tad hot tho so I kick the covers off a lot of the time. X

Yes me! Got told of my consultant to start at 8 weeks and I tried!! But will pins in my left collar bone, After 3 (different) breaks, it was agony. Spoke to the midwife and she said to just stay on my right. Which is my how I sleep anyways. Try a pregnant pillow to stop you rolling over x

I didn’t worry about sleeping on my back until half way through my second trimester 😬!

I naturally sleep on my left side anyway but occasionally ended up on my back and didn’t worry too much .

Although around 20 weeks or so I noticed I would feel dizzy when laying on my back so it’s definitely better to be on your side .

I slept on my right a lot, I think the evidence is much more about the risks of sleeping on your back. Only one study found it was better on your left and other studies found no difference. By the time I got to third trimester, sleeping on my back was uncomfortable and I naturally went on my side. I had started trying to sleep on my side earlier but I kind of wish I'd just slept how I wanted in the 2nd trimester and enjoyed the sleep.

Thanks for all the answers.... kind of reassuring to know I'm not the only one with this issue 😅
I might seriously consider a pregnancy pillow then!

I just sleep whatever way I can get comfortable....I try not to overthink it

I go to sleep on my left side and without fail wake up on my back. 34 + 3 and I am so worried about it but I don't think there is anything I can do!
