Hi all, I'm 6 weeks pregnant (end pregnancy) and I forgot how bad I had restless legs first then around. It started in my first trimester disapeared then come to bite me in the ass even worse in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Does anyone else suffer? Do you have any good tips please?

Not, and never have been pregnant, but do suffer from restless legs! No tips I'm afraid, just wanted to empathise.

I remember this being so frustrating. Magnesium helps

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 08/05/2020 07:23

I only suffer if my iron level drops - but sympathise with you....they're so annoying!!

Laura3151 · 08/05/2020 07:28

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I had an iron deficiency last time. I was thinking this would be the cause again. @ohwifey I'll try the magnesium...thank you x

Yes so frustrating! I get them too

  • try drinking lots of water
  • take pregnancy supplement containing iron and other minerals
  • cold shower on your legs can calm things down
  • massage oil into legs and feet to get circulation going

@Pickles89 thank you. It's vile isn't it! Like crawling in your legs and so jumpy. I went to bed for an early night at didn't end up going off until 12.30 eugh x

Magnesium spray works really well but check you can use it while pregnant.

Laura3151 · 08/05/2020 07:30

@Gerdticker oh thank you. I have upped my water intake but maybe still not enough so I'll have extra today. I've not heard of the cold shower so I'll try this tonight. My other half massaged them last night, I'll get him to try it with the oil. Thanks again. It's so annoying! X

I'll also second the magnesium spray! It's fabulous stuff! Check if you can use it when pregnant though!

I know it's not widely well thought of on mn, however I was so fed up of restless legs and the aching in my legs which cause me sleepless nights I took to homeopathy. I took Chamomilla 30 and it's worked for me. There are other types depending on your particular symptoms but it's an option!

Raspb3rry · 08/05/2020 07:32

I had this badly in both my pregnancies - quinine is supposed to help, quinine is in tonic water, so try drinking some of that! It helped a bit with mine!

mononymous · 08/05/2020 07:37

Yes tonic water

AlviesMam · 08/05/2020 08:20

Try and not eat anything too carby before bed, apparently this can set it off too!
I feel your pain I couldn't get to sleep with my restless legs!!

Laura3151 · 10/05/2020 09:35

Thank you all. I'll get some tonic and look into the magnesium. I think you're right about the carb meals making things worse... Pretty sure the evening we've had pasta they've kept me up... It's so annoying! X
